Question about ViewSonic VX2235WM Monitor

1 Answer

Monitor started with momentary blackouts 1-2 months ago, happening 1-3 times a day. Suddenly the blackout became longer and I had to turn off power to regain image. Then blackout became (almost) permanent. After 3 days I tried again and got image for a second and then blackout. I use PackardBell desktop and WinXPhome OS. Monitor is ca 6 months old.

SCREEN WON,T STAY LIT UNLESS I TOUCH IT

You are simply in blackout mode. This is so at night you aren't blinded by the glow of a screen. Here are instructions right from the manual to turn on or off.

Blackout Mode On and Off
When Blackout mode is turned on, the monitor display will turn off to
reduce power consumption.
This additional power enhances the sound quality.
1 Touch [VISUAL] on the main source screen.
The VISUAL selection screen is displayed.
2 Touch [OFF].
The backlit-display portion goes out.
3 Touch [OFF] again to cancel the display backlight.
To make the setting, set to “Setting the VISUAL Touch Button” (page
34).
If any button on the unit is pressed during Blackout mode, the
function will be displayed for 5 seconds to show the operation before
returning to Blackout mode.
While the backlighting is turned off, the function indicator

BenQ FP91G+ 19" LCD Monitor black screen

Possibly either the backlight lamp or its associated power supply has failed. Power buttons (mostly LEDs) have constant availability of low voltage (for some other circuits too) otherwise they wouldn't 'wake up' on command from a computer as some do.
The blackout could also be due to a failed main power supply so the incoming video is no longer being processed.

Once Standby mode shut down Monitor will not operate for a few days

Problem is maybe caused by electrolytic capacitors in PSU you can inspect them visualy if their top is blown then they are defective you can easily replace them.
Good luck.
