I currently have a Pioneer Head unit, 2 9" Oval pioneer speakers on the rear shelf and 2 front car door speakers directly connected to the HU, and 2 8/10" Pioneer 650W Sub woofers connected to a 300W Pioneer amplifier through RCA connection on HU and Amp. Initially when I had a Sony VCD HU and an equalizier (which was unfortunately stolen) the bass from the woofer was very good. But now, It does not feel. This amplifier is also repaired since the power supply was blown once.
I intend to change the amplifier to power the subs sufficiently. Can you pls. suggest what power of 4-channel amplifier whould I use so that the subs give sweet bass. I am looking at a Sony XM-ZR6042 4 channel amplifier for the subs. will it be sufficient for my 2 650W subs.

What is the watts on the head unit and if its got 50 x 4 channels that should be enough to run the front dash and door speakers if not then a 4 Channel amp while do the trick but if the head unit has the 50 x 4 channels witch is 200 watts and it does fine running the dash and door speakers all you need is the amp to run your subs and make sure you tune it well cause that makes all the difference also...
There could be several reasons why the head unit for your car does not work. The most likely issue is that the head unit is not compatible with your stereo system. You can consult your vehicle owner's manual for speaker issues.--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Diagnostic VAG
you cna switch the working rca's to the sub out put to check for sound if u get sound it means your rca's are bad but if no sound then your other outputs in your radio may be deffective
pioneer head units only distribute like 200 rms or so to the speakers. you might have to find a blue maybe even blue with white striped wire and nick it just enough to tie your amp wire around it. tape it up and see if it works.
Head unit - JVC Camelion
Front - Sony Xplode 4 way 8" 150w (will need door pods)
Back - Kenwood 7x10, 4 ways, 320W, (these will act like subs for you)
Wiring - Make sure you use competiton wiring in the system.
The wiring is fairly straight forward. Along the top row of the ten pin plug =
(Left to Right)
Front Left positive,
Front left Negative,
Control wire from your stereo head unit should be thin blue wire sometimes listed as Remote Wire this switches your amp on and off via your head unit so you don't run your battery flat,
Front Right Negative,
Front Right Positive.
Bottom Row=(Left to Right)
Left Back Positive,
Left Back Negative
Centre Nothing
Right Back Negative
Right Back Positive
These are all inputs from your head unit.
To bridge from 4 channel to 2 you connect
one left speaker to Ch B Left Positive and Ch A Left Negative
one Right speaker to Ch B Right Negative and Ch A Right Positive
Ten Switching the Input Select switch to 2CH
Alternatively if your unit has RCA's on the back of the Head unit you can use them to run your subs.
Hope that helps.
