Then hard reset the router. WARNING! You MUST have the username and password to log back onto your broadband service if you do this. Internet service provider usually sends you a welcome letter with these details. Also, take down the settings on the connection page of your router (if you dont know what this page is, you should leave this to someone that does).
Generally there is a tiny hole/button on the rear of the router that should be pressed in for 10 seconds. This may vary with router model.

Dont know wpa number

Hi,

Welcome to Fixya. If you want to obtain the WPA or Network Key on your router you need to access the Wireless Settings Page. To access the router page you need a working computer that is connected to the router. To access your router you need to use a computer that is connected to it. Open a Browser then type 192.168.0.1 or http://routerlogin.net. The Default username is admin and the password is password. Password is case sensitive.

Go to the Wireless Tab select Wireless Security under the Security Mode you will see there Network Key or Passphrase. The Network Key serves as a password or security code on your network to make it secure.

Thanks for using Fixya.

The SSID and Password will usually printed at the bottom of the wireless router (in most of the models)
If you dont have them printed at bottom, then you need to open the router interface to get those information...

The Network name can be also see when you scan for wirelesss networks in range from any of your wifi enabled devices like laptop, iphone, ipod touch etc...
If you know the password you can use the same password...

I just installed the internet at home from mediacom and i needed to plug my d-link router to have a wireless network at home and i dont have the configuration disk for my router and i dont know how to make...

You NEVER need that CD-ROM disk. :-)

Use an Ethernet cable to connect from a LAN port on the router to the network-port on your computer.

Click Start.
Click Run.
Type CMD
Press Enter.
Type IPCONFIG
Press Enter.
Look for output similar to:
Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.123.456
Start Internet Explorer.
Type http://192.168.123.456 (or whatever value that you saw).
Login to the router (ID: admin, password: [blank]).
Click to run the "Wireless Networking Setup Wizard".
Enter an SSID.
Choose an encryption-level (use: 'WPA').
Choose a password for your wireless network.
Save the changes.

Disconnect the Ethernet cable, and click "View Available Wireless Networks". Connect to the SSID that you chose, and enter the password.

I dont know my wpa key to get online

Use an Ethernet cable between the network-port on your computer and one of the LAN ports on your wireless router.

Start Internet Explorer.
Connect to the web-server "inside" the router.
Run the "Wireless Networking Setup Wizard", to establish an SSID, choose an encryption-level (use 'WPA'), and to establish a password/pass-phrase/network-key.

Use the SSID and the password to connect to your newly-configured wireless network.

I cannot connect my laptop to my thomson router because i dont know my security key password!! can you help me please??

When you view the available wireless networks and then click on your wireless network connection, it will asks for a network/security key if this wireless connection is an encryption protected wireless network. This key is the wireless encryption key that is configured in the wireless settings of your router. Please click on this link and follow my instruction to connect into your wireless network :-

I dont know my security key or passphrase

Connect your router to computer with ethernet cable then you can access it with following default link.
http://192.168.0.1
or
http://192.168.1.1
If you are not able to access it with above ip then check your computers ip address gateway ip is your router ip try with it.
Then it ask for user name and password.
Type user as "admin" and password as "admin" or "password" or blank.
Then you can see configuration page of router.
Then click on wireless and then wireless security then change wep password because it is in * or # format then save settings and restart router then you can connect with that code.
Let me know if you need further assistance.
