Question about Pioneer SIR-PNR2 SIRIUS Radio Receiver

1 Answer

IPod and Sirius hook up

I have a pioneer 5800mp head unit, a sir-pnr2 satellite radio, and a now a i pod ib100 II. The head unit and satellite have been running fine for months. I bought the ipod part today(10/27/07). The guy at the store said to hook it to the head unit first then to the satellite. So the ip-bus cable goes from the head unit to ipod to satellite. I turned it on...the ipod worked but i can't retrieve the satellite. So I disconnected the ipod and put it back the way i had it before the ipod. The head unit still did not recognize the satellite. Like it wasn't even there. All the connections are good. What happened and what can I do to fix it? Thankyou for your time.

Allpioneer products need power and ground to operate. check the fuse on the yellow wire. if ipod is not plugged in, it will not show as a source on the pioneer head unit

Also make sure that your Ipod Unit is compatible with your head unit. You can find out wich one is right for you at Pioneerelectronics.com.

There are several versions of Ipod controllers and not all radios will work with them.

How do you use the aux inputs on the back of the deh-480mp

This model is an older model and is Ipod ready the only down side is that you need to by the kit Pioneer CD-IB100 II for Ipod to be compatiable. If you are looking at the deck then you are probably saying i see the head phone inputs and they dont work. Well those are for XM/sirius which if you by those thing they plug right in to there.

I was told by Pioneer that you need to request an Advance Replacement through an authorized dealer, I am still waiting for mine to come in... what a waste of time & money...

New anteena.

Honestly, There most likely right. It happens more often than you'd think. Try unplgging the brain for a minute with the power off then turn the radio back on after youv'e plugged it back in. It may just need to reinitialize but I doubt it.

Static sound

Some Pioneer radios allow for seperate audio controlls between FM CD and External sources like you Sat Radio. It may be that your settings are out of wack (Prob the factory setting which is crap), try that out and let me know.

Alpine CDA-9855 won't recognize SIR-ALP1

I also had this problem. I had to go through the menu into the setup and then into tuner settings. There should be an option called tuner area. If you set it to area 1 it should start working. For some reason the sirius only works on area one. Hope that solces your problem

Sirius Problem

The sirius unit does not have any channels in the unit.
You need to refresh the radio (XM allows you to do it online, I dont know about sirius) and leave it powered on for about an hour for it to update the channel list.
