I can't play dvd's on my ps2 anymore

Your laser is probably on its way out -- as a laser starts to fail, it will first stop reading PS2 games (but will read some DVD movies OK). It will then stop reading DVD movies and only play CDs. please hold red power button for 4 seconds when u are playing the dvd movie. and put the game switch on the ps2

This is one of the most common problem faced by old thick pS2..........but dOn wOrRy all u hAv to do is to turn on uR pS2 witthout puttin a DVD oR aNy diSc........on mEnu screen gOto [options] by pRessing 'triangle' button......... a new screen will appear select by pressing 'X' [DISC SPEED]....n sEt it to fAst.....then insert the DVD movie........tURn off PS2....press n hold the reset button till the blue light is turned on......release the button and press it again.............. it wOuld take a little tYm foR uR DVD movie to be loAded........be patient till the movie plays it self..............

u got any piracy chip(swap magic)....if u got any thing like that then ur ps2 is unable to play movies

Just load the disc the same as a game and it will play dvd movies. Use the controller to press play/start

might want to check the parnet settings on the system

what kind of mod chip brand was installed

I needed to get the CD with the remote control in order to play songs and movies. There is a CD you buy that you can download onto your PS2 slim and afer you do this, you should be able to play movies, music, etc.....
