Question about Kenmore 44109 / 44102 Side by Side Refrigerator
The fridge side is very warm on the highest setting. The freezer side is crazy. There are two vents, one at the top and another at the bottom. No air is blowing through the top but cold air is coming from the bottom and keeping the food frozen from middle to the bottom. I re-arrange the food daily to keep all of it frozen. Just can't afford a new one. Can you please offer suggestions that I may do myself, I follow instructions well. The purchase date was 9/1999 and there is no warranty. It stopped cooling about a month ago and I vaccumed the coils underneath the fridge side and it started cooling again. About a year ago I replaced a switch on top of the compressor that was burned out. Now this. I have both sides on the highest settings but nothing has changed. I would be willing to call you if you provide me with a number. Thank you and have a blessed day.
Here's the deal. You probably didn't need the overload. Most likely you have a problem with your condenser fan motor. To check move the refer out from the wall and pull the cardboard panel at the bottom of the refer. Check to make sure the motor is running at a high speed. If not you will have to change it as there are no oiling points. If that isn't the problem open the freezer door and remove the back panel. Check to see if your evap. fan is running at high speed. Then check to see if your evaporator is iced up. If so either your fan is not running fast enough or your defrost heater is out. To check disconnect the heater and take a continuity check at each lead end you should register infinity. Which means your meter will peg itself over to the left side. If that is okay the only other thing that could be causing the problem would be the heater thermo which tells the heater when to come on. You will see it attached to the evaporator coils. Hope that helps. If so e-mail me.
