SOURCE: Bobbin won't wind, do

Hi,
Open the bobbin cover and remove the bobbin from your machine. Examine the bobbin case and make sure there aren't stray threads jammed into any grooves. If you see clumps or strands of thread, remove them with your fingers or with tweezers.
Look over how the bobbin is positioned in the case and whether or not it is inserted correctly. Different machines hold the bobbin in different ways and some machines don't use a bobbin case. Consult your machine's manual for the proper way for its bobbin to be inserted.
Make sure the thread is wound evenly on the bobbin. If your thread has large sections of loose loops sticking out from the rest of the thread, they easily could be causing the problem. Rewind the bobbin, if needed.
Clean the shuttle mechanism and the bobbin case with a small soft brush, such as a make-up brush, and a dust cloth. Remove as much dust and tiny fiber pieces as possible. Resist the urge to blow into the machine to clear away dust, this can send debris farther back into the machine, causing more serious problems.
Oil the movable pieces of the shuttle by putting a few drops of sewing machine oil on a Q-tip and rubbing the Q-tip over the hinge-like turning areas. Do not add too much oil to the machine; one drop goes a long way.
Reload your bobbin into the machine and sew a line along a piece of scrap fabric. Check your thread tension and adjust it as needed following the manufacturer's instructions. The upper thread should never show through the bottom and the bobbin thread should never show through the top.

SOURCE: Why does the needle move as though it is sewing when I wind a bobbin

Unlikely that a belt is broken. It is more likely that you don't have the bobbin spindle fully pushed to the right. Or worst case is that something inside, under the bobbin winder is broken.

Singer 9960 bobbin winder won't disengage clutch while winding bobbin so needle moves up and down

The issue you are describing with your Singer 9960 bobbin winder could be caused by a few different things. One possibility is that the clutch is not properly engaging or disengaging. Another possibility is that the bobbin winder belt may be loose or damaged, causing the needle to move up and down and making noise while winding the bobbin. It is also possible that there may be a problem with the bobbin winder mechanism itself.
I would recommend checking to make sure the clutch is engaging and disengaging properly, and check the bobbin winder belt and mechanism for any signs of damage or wear. If you continue to experience problems, it may be best to consult the manual or contact the manufacturer for further assistance.

My singer featherweight 132 machine will not wind the bobbin. I have used this machine for years and now it will not wind the bobbin. What could be wrong?

The belt inside the machine that does this needs replacing. Simple answer, not quite so simple to do. Old machines was an easy do. Read your manual book or find a sewing machine shop near you and ask for that to be replaced.

Bobbin winding

put screwdriver in bobbin shaft winder and open the slit a little. also loosen screws that hold winding attachment and move it forward so it just touches the belt then tighten screws. some cheap chinese bobbins slip on winders too.

The bobbin on my kenmore sewing machine model 158.15720 won't spin to wind the bobbin. I oiled it but it didn't help. The belt is a little loose. Could replacing it help?

most machines will have a rubber o ring as part of the bobbin winding mechanism, when you engage the bobbin winder, this o-ring will move over against the main engine drive wheel and this then makes the bobbin spindle turn. So yes, you may need to replace the rubber o-ring, they can perish and wear. Called Bobbin Winder Tyre, you could try www.sewingpartsonline.com, they have loads of Kenmore models listed but can't see yours. However, if you email them, they should be able to advise what part number it is. If you start by opening up the machine case and take a look at the bobbin winder area first, you may find this rubber has split or perished.

I just purchased a Tacsew T111-155 sewing machine with a bobbin rewinder. Since the bobbin rewinder runs off the drive belt, how do you rewind the bobbin without the needle moving? Is there a button or a...

Hi Diane...you can wind bobbins while you are sewing your product, or you can wind them seperately. To wind them seperately, pull out the bobbin case, lift the presser feet up and lock them in the up position, undo the threading beyond the tension assembly. The takeup will create a birdsnest if you don;t pull the thread from it. Wind your bobbins, the re-thread your machine, insert your bobbin case, drop the presser feet, pick up the bobbin thread and sew away. If you need any other input, call me at 888-283-9640.
