SOURCE: canon zr 100 Will not load tape and shut door.

I had the same problem, I see many reports of banging or thumping the tape door side of the camera, I shudder to think the damage that may possibly do but I tried it, No success.
So I had to find a better way to fix the condition. This is what I came up with.
Turn the camera on
With power on take out the battery
Turn camera on/off switch to off.
Reinstall the battery and turn camera on.
I had to do this a few times, the camera is working and still working today.
The answer, maybe a way to reset the cpu or controller in the camera, or jolt an electronic item in the camera......

SOURCE: canon zr 100 Will not load tape and shut door.

Funny stuff. I went and bought a different camera because Canon told me I had to send it to them and pay for the repair. I found it in the closet after about 2 years and thought I'd take a shot at fixing it myself. I tried #2 didn't work and #1 obviously wasn't the problem. So, I jacked it around a little and boom! it started working. Magic.

I want to connect a Canon ZR 800 using firewire to my MacBook Pro.

To connect your Canon ZR 800 camcorder to your MacBook Pro using a Firewire connection, you will need a Firewire cable and a Firewire port on your computer. Here are the steps you can follow to connect your camcorder to your MacBook Pro:
  1. Locate the Firewire port on your MacBook Pro. It is usually located on the side or back of the computer and is marked with a symbol that looks like a small lightning bolt.
  2. Connect one end of the Firewire cable to the Firewire port on your MacBook Pro.
  3. Locate the Firewire port on your Canon ZR 800 camcorder. It is usually located on the side or back of the camcorder and is marked with a symbol that looks like a small lightning bolt.
  4. Connect the other end of the Firewire cable to the Firewire port on your camcorder.
  5. Turn on your camcorder and set it to playback mode.
  6. Open the video editing software on your MacBook Pro and choose the option to import video from a Firewire device.
  7. Follow the prompts in the software to import the video from your camcorder.
I hope this helps! If you have any further questions, don't hesitate to ask.

HELLO, MY CANNON ZR 100 IS STUCK IN PAUSE MODE

This is most likely due to a failed Pause / Play switch and can be repaired fairly inexpensively. However, it's not a user serviceable problem and will need to be repaired by a qualified service technician.

My name is Rick and I'm a professional repair technician with over 20 years in the business and have repaired many of these. I'm semi retired and work from home with little overhead so I can keep repair costs low. If you decide to have the camera repaired, please click HERE for a directory listing that suits your needs.

Tape is stuck in cannon zr 100 camera and will not eject

There should be a manual eject button. You know like on CD-ROM's there was a small whole for a paperclip to fit into, there should be one on that camera. This will eject manual, and becareful the tape might be caught on the head.

Unable to tansfer video to computer using DV cable..

Pinnacle software will recognize the camera installed through a firewire cable once the camera is turned on. Windows movies software doesn't recognize DV cameras. You may be able to get capture to work if you go to Microsoft.com and download the Windows Media 9.0 Development Kit. I believe DV input is a capture option.

There has to be a 3rd party program installed to get it to recognize it.

Good luck on that.
