My hp deskjet 6980 seems to be feeding the paper fine but starts the actual printing about an inch or two farther down then it should so that I can't print any forms like checks because it is not...

Check the following:
  • The specific Printer driver for your OS has been installed (look at Printer properties)
  • The correct paper size has been selected and loaded from the correct feeder slot.
  • Application software (such as MS Office) has correct print margins (and more specifically the heading margin)
ps. Mis-alignment of the cartridge will not cause such massive errors but would normally result in a 'fuzzy' printout.

Hope it helps and good luck!

right click on your printer and select properties
click the color tab
click on printer services
clean print heads and align cartridge
You should be good to go, hope this helps!

Print looks like it has fuzzies. Seems to be smudging as well

o.k. here are some things to look for:

First, power off your machine unplug wait a minute. plug it back in and power on.

run a test.....

If same problem persists, gain access to your print cartridges by opening lid.

remove print cartridges and with a lightly dampened towel or cloth clean the print heads. you will see some ink left on the cartridge this is your print head.

Next, place cartridges correctly back in place.

Your printer should now prompt you to run a print alignment configuration.

Go through these steps and do a test print again, Hopefully this will fix the problem.

If it does not. Write back and I will next tell you what to do..

My print is fuzzy and has a lot of skips in the text. The problem started when I put in "copy" paper and new cartridges from cartridge world at the same time and I cannot tell which might be the problem,...

Some copy papers are extremely thin, and the printing on them will look fuzzy, but if you have skips in the text, this problem is with the cartridges. Look at the heads of the cartridges and see if they are clean. If that doesn't work, i would return the cartridges and try another set. The same thing happened on my HP, I replaced the cartridges and it worked fine!

The colour keeps going to more blue and the screen is fuzzy?

you should be able to align your projectors through the setup menus. you will have to align two colors, usually red and green to stop the fuzziness and you should look at the tint selection in the menus for the blue color if the realignment does not fix it as well.

I could not locate the manual on the Hitachi website.

Printer giving general error message during alignment/test page

Hi, try putting a little 3 in 1 light oil on the bar thgat the print head runs on, the 'bale bar' as it is called can get dry and jam, only put a little oin in 6 or 7 places otherwise, you may end up with oil in the parer drive mechanism.

Scan views fine; prints fuzzy

Try to change the dpi to the maximum, maybe 600 dpi. This will make the picture more defined.
