My Cd/DVD burner has disappeared I have tried deleting the upper and lower filters and it still doesn't show up the tray opens the light comes on but it's not usable or found anywhere I have an HP...

Try this:

I have to ask, after deleting the upper & lower filters did you reboot the PC?

If so try this:
Go to:
Start>(right click on Computer)left click on Manage.
Left click on Device Manager
Locate your DVD/CD-Rom drives.
Right Click on the DVD/CD Rom-drive> uninstall Now reboot the PC.

If the drive does not come back in Computer> devices with removeable storage go back to Device Manager (Start>right click computer>Device Manager) to see if you can see DVD/CD Rom-drive.If you dont see the drive in this location then it sounds as if your DVD/CDRom-drive is no longer working and you will have to replace it.

Good luck!

I have an ATAPI DVD A DH16ABSH Dvd CD rom in my Gateway computer. It keeps on disappearing and reappearing in the computer. This computer was bought back in January. What makes it do this?

Sound like the Connectivity cable is either loose or there is a problem with your dvd rom burner check the cable that it connects to if it looks fine then contact or return the dvd rom burner for a different one

Asus e818a3t is recognized as a DVD-ROM only. I can no longer write CDs after my Windows 7 Pro 64-bit install. Windows says the driver is installed and everything is working properly. Obviously not!

Hello there,

Try this trick,

1. Go to Hardware Profile and Remove your Asus ROM profile.
2. Shutdown your Machine -
3. Remove the Asus ROM from your Sata Connector.
4. Turn your Computer ON without that ROM
5. Shutdown it again, and Reconnect your ROM to those Sata connectors
6. Comment back here if still not working. :)

Cheers!

Cant play DVD on CD-RW/DVD-ROM Combo Drive

Assuming you have tried different makes of cd or dvd disks, it's a classic drive failure problem where the laser can no longer burn or read dvd's, but may still be able to read cd's only. You will have to replace the drive, they are quite inexpensive, and very easy to fit.
