Blue screen compaq presario windows xp sp2 cq40

Did you just install a new program or a piece of hardware, update a driver, install an update, etc.? If so, there's a very good chance that the change you made caused the BSOD:
Startup using Last Known Good Configuration to undo recent registry and driver changes.
Use System Restore to undo recent system changes.
Roll Back device driver to version prior to your driver update.

Scan your computer for viruses. Some viruses can cause a Blue Screen of Death, especially ones that infect the master boot record (MBR) or boot sector.

Update drivers for your hardware. Most Blue Screens of Death are hardware or driver related so updated drivers could fix the cause of the STOP error.

Return hardware settings to default in Device Manager. Unless you have a specific reason to do so,the system resources that an individual piece of hardware is configured to use in Device Manager should be set to default. Non-default hardware settings have been known to cause a Blue Screen of Death.

Return BIOS settings to their default levels. An overclocked or misconfigured BIOS can cause all sorts of random issues, including BSODs.

If this doesn't helps you then simply get the system utility program like PC Fresher that will fix windows errors that cause of blue screen

My Compaq Presario F500 running Vist Home Basic will no longer boot the operating system after I completed an advise BIOS update from HPs websit. I receive an error code stating that the system is cor

Hi.

Try this >>>>

Power down your Compaq Presario F500 notebook computer. Remove the unit's internal battery from its housing compartment.
Use a screwdriver to unscrew and remove all of the screws from the bottom panel of your Compaq Presario F500. Use your hands to lift off the bottom panel, revealing the inside of the notebook computer.
Look for the CMOS/BIOS chip: It will be located in the center of your computer's motherboard, which is itself located in the center of the case.
Remove the small battery from its housing compartment on the CMOS/BIOS chip. Then, press and hold the "Power" button on the laptop's case for a few seconds. This will completely discharge all electricity from the device.
Replace the CMOS/BIOS' battery. Place the bottom panel of the notebook computer back on and screw it back into place. Place the Compaq Presario F500's battery back into its housing compartment and press the "Power" button to turn it on. Your CMOS/BIOS will now be completely reset.
Good luck and please let me know how you get on!!!!

you will need a Windows boot disk / Windows install disk / WinXP disk to reboot the PC and install / or repair your OS

rescue disk will not boot your PC
to enable that you need to enter the BIOS, press F1, F2 or Del to enter BIOS , then you need to look for the BOOT seq in BIOS, change that to CD DVD drive as the 1st boot device, Save and Exit and insert the boot CD and restart
this should give you the solution

I have a compaq presario r4000 will not boot up correctly

When you start it up, go to the BIOS option and select "peripheral" settings. I don't know which column its under but you want to turn the network adapter off. If that makes your Operating System come up working (And you may have to come up in SAFE mode the first time), then you can always go back and reset the BIOS to recognize the network adapter, or install a different one.
