If your laptop dont recognise dvd rewriter it may be due to many reason it may either due to Ide cable or a registry issue or a hardware issue .Try following steps :
1 make sure you have correctly inserted the IDE and Power Cables. Fault of putting the IDE cable in the wrong way around make this happen.
2 Make one drive the the Master and the other the Slave, don't set both to Cable Select.
Is it not recognizing the drives in the BIOS or Windows? Try changing IDE cables?
If BIOS, have you gone into the BIOS and verified that the drives are detected? Try changing the BIOS settings for the IDE Channels from AUTO to CD_ROM. At least then, from a hardware viewpoint, you are forcing the system to recognize.
3 If you have an older player, check with the manufacturer to see whether an update to the firmware is available. Many newer DVD titles with lots of special features are famous for causing problems on older players.
4 If its a registry issue then try following steps but remember first take back up of your registry
Start the Run
Command Prompt Type in "regedit" without the parrenthesis then click ok
Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
Then SYSTEM
Then CURRENT CONTROL SET
Then CONTROL
Then CLASS
Then find {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
The whole thing looks like this:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
Then delete the upper and lower filters....
RESTART YOUR COMPUTER THEN THERE YA GO!!!! HOPE THIS HELPS
if it is a lg gsa-h62n then i have the same problem
I am trying to install a lightScribe DVD-R on the same mother board. Serial ATA has been enabled in the Bios. I have confirmed the drive is powered. I have tried both Sata plugs (Sata1 and Sata2). But, I cannot get the computer to recognize the new drive.
Is this motherboard only compatible with SATA v.1 and not with the newer SATA v.2?
I cannot update my BIOS as a last resort because I don't have the floppy drive which is required. Can I use a cd on my functioning drive?
