ELECTRIC Dryer no heat or little heat:

Check your venting and lint basket. Check blower for lint build up and blower wheel obstruction., test by trying to turn the wheel manually by hand (should be easy) May have to remove cabinet or front/back plate to get to it)

Next check the heating element itself with a meter for continuity OHMS CLOSED CIRCUIT. If not its defective.

Check dryer Terminal block prongs both outside prongs should give combined 220, and 110 each if u check 1 outside & 1 center (ground) prong. Also check house electrical outlet for full voltage. 220 because if u only get half or 110 volts you will be able to run the machine which uses only 110 to run motor but not the heater which uses a full 220,

Check the thermal cut off, the cycling and the hi limit thermostats.
For continuity or OHMS. If no ohms or resistance they need replacement.

Lastly check your moister sensor. ( located inside the dryer door usually) Especially if machine seems to shut down early and clothes are still wet.
Test with a meter at room temperature and it should show continuity.

SOURCE: Frigidaire FEX831CS Top Load Stacked Washer won't

First you should remove the hoses and clean the screens in the ends of the hose, some hoses have screens in both ends. While the hoses are removed look inside the water inlet valve there should be a screen in there also remove and clean the screen out. Some screens will not be removable so you will need to clean in place or remove the water inlet valve. If all is clear you will need to check the solenoids on the water inlet valve for power. If the solenoid has power when put in a fill cycle and no water eneters your washer you will need to replace the water inlet valve. Most water inlet valves must be replaced as a unit, so if one solenoid fails you replace the hole valve assembly. These are inexpensive and easy to replace. There is a video at http://appliancehelponline.com/topwaterinletvideo.html that will walk you thru the testing procedure. It may be a different model but the testing will be the same. If you need help disassembling there are also videos of disassembling most styles. You can also enter your model # for diagrams and illustrations of your specific model. Not all models will be available. All parts come with installation instructions.

SOURCE: The dryer to my Frigidair FEX831CS top Loaded

Could be one of 4 problems:

  1. Worn or loose drum drive belt (Looks like a large fan belt) (New belt cost $8)
  2. The rear bearing(s) is bad and needs replacing (part cost $18)
  3. The front bearing guide(Sleeve) is worn (Part cost 2@$18.00
  4. Possible that the fan is loose from the motor and hitting housing.
All of the above are easy do at home repairs if you re handy. You should be able to get a good idea of what is wrong just by turning the dryer drum by hand. If the problem is the front bearing or guides, you will hear a grinding noise in the front at the top of the door.

SOURCE: my Frigidaire FEX831CS Top Load Stacked Washer / Dryer goes through the cycle till it gedts to drain, then nothing... pump out?

Hello trinileigh19 - Does the drain pump make a humming noise? If so, there may be a restriction in the drain line or siphoning. Otherwise since it is such a complex unit I would recommend contacting a professional to have either the pump or timer diagnose.

Just bough a used frigidaire stackable unit model FEX831CS and washer makes extremely loud noise on spin cycle. and dryer takes over 2 hours to dry a regular load of clothes. Please help

Hello uucyc1 - From what you have described it sounds like you either have a problem with the washer tub bearing, belt, motor or trunnion (steel bar that secures the inner basket to the transmission shaft). As far as the dryer, long dry times typically are a result of poor air flow. Make sure that the dryer exhaust vent is completely clear and that the unit is not overloaded. I would suggest contacting an experiencing service technician to determine the precise cause to both units.

Clothes take.2 hours or more to dry

Check to make sure that the dryer vent is clean. Most of the time when the clothes take a long time to dry it is the vent. If the vent is clogged then it cannot circulate the air inside the dryer. Also check underneath the lint filter to make sure it is not clogged as well

Dryer heats up, but takes hours to dry the clothes, even light weight clothes.

The first thing you need to check is the exhaust tube. Take it off of the back of the machine and off of the wall thimble and clean it out completely. While you have it off clean out the dryer where the hose connects and the wall thimble.

Dryer will not heat-up, clothes stay wet even after hours of drying! gas is on, gas bill payed, turning needlessly, no drying.

It is possible that your dryer isn't heating because its heating element is defective. Heating elements are irrepairable. If yours has ceased to function properly, you will have to replace it. Open your dryer's cabinet and locate the heating element so that you can test it.

Hello, my frigidaire dryer-washer is not drying...it could be running for several hours but it doesn't dry

if the clothes are not getting warm at all, heater element needs to be replaced. if they are getting warm, you need to check filter, exhaust tube and out side outlet for blockage
