Icemaker arm won't stay in "up" or "locked" position
I am a rental manager and we have several IM34 Frigidaire icemakers that the arm won't stay in the locked position to quit making ice. Is there a replacement arm kit or the icemaker has to be replaced?

If the icemaker was removed and reinstalled, double check to make sure the plug is fully engaged and the ice bin shut off arm is back to the down position.
I see you are asking for the location of the on and off switch for your Frigidaire refrigerator's icemaker. Depending on your model the icemaker off switch will either be the wire arm or a power switch located on the icemaker. If you have the model with the wire arm flipping the arm up will cut off the icemaker and flipping it down will turn it back on. I hope this is helpful. -Matt
This is due to the arm that controls the switch on the icemaker itself either being shorted or froozen in the toggled position. Usually the arm would lift as your ice container becomes full and shut the icemaker off until it reached a level where the switch would then toggle to the make ice position and then start makeing ice again. There are three 1/4" screws that hold the icemaker in place remove these screws unplug the icemaker and then use hot water to dethaw your ice maker for about 2-4 minutes after wards dry the icemaker then try reinstalling the icemaker if the problem persists replace the icemaker itself. If you have any further questions message me back I await your reply. Thank you Rick
Hello, That sound you here is the icemaker calling for water to fill the icemaker but not water into refrig to fill icemaker. If you have no water connected to icemaker, lift up and lock arm into place to turn off icemaker,if you do have water line connected but no ice is being made need to see why water from house plumbing is not coming into the refrig.
Put the icemaker arm in the lock position to turn it off. If it is the icemaker making the noise, the noise should stop. If the noise stops, replace the icemaker. If it does not stop, let us know.
It sounds like you have a bad icemaker. Usually when the arm is clicking its the gears that are stripped out. Feel in the icemaker if theres cubes frozen in there then you know the icemaker is definitely bad. With the arm in the up position it will not make cubes at all that is the off position for the icemaker. Hope this helps _MJ_
Mine has done this several times. There is a switch, usually in the tray above the ice container at the back. Move the switch to the OFF position for about 30 seconds. Now, turn the switch ON and push it hard in the ON position for about 30 seconds. This will 'jump start' your icemaker going again and you shouldn't have any more problems.
Have you bumped the control arm into the up position? Or inadvertently turned the unit off? Generally, you will have to replace the icemaker as entire unit. If you are handy, this can be done as it only involves removing a few screws and a connector.
yes you need to replace the bail arm spring on the ice maker with a red one ill bet yours is green the red ones have more tension on them call an appliance repair parts store tell them you need a spring for an im34 make sure its red buying a new ice maker wont neccessarly solve the problem
