Some months ago after downloading some updates to my Earthlink internet software they left my communication ports disabled, since then I have tried everything to reinstall or get new port drivers to fix the problem. I have gone through a lot of run around with the Dell site and tried many other things to no avail. I am using a HIRO PCIE dial up modem that is using COM port 8 since the other ports are disabled. Could you help me find the drivers to Com ports 3, 5, 6 so I can fix my problem?

You may have to enable the other com ports. You go into the Control Panel and click on Add&Remove Hardware. When the first window shows up with everything that is already installed list, look at the top of the list. Highlite Add New Device. When ask, choose Select From A List. Then select COM Port and follow the wizard.

Do you know the motherboard mfg?
if it something other than the Dell then you can get the drivers.
USB drivers are mostly generic and are available at Microsoft. there is an application called "Driver Detective" and they are good. They check the computer and get everything you need.

Download and install the latest proper driver for the TU-S9 cable.
Also, are yo sure that this mysterious "external serial device" is working properly, or is even compatible with the computer?
Last but not least, you could buy and install a PCI serial port card...

you might see a yellow question / exclamation ? ! mark or a red X this will mean you need to install a new driver for this device right click to update driver
