Sony cdp-c250z 5 disc cd player won't open up, tries to but just keeps making a jmping noise like 2 discs possible together??

Below is an exploded view of Power Switch and board section and I hope will help you to fix power button issue.

Power switch board has one screw to open it and you will remount power button and put back in power board in unit.

If the disc is actually loading but won't read, try cleaning the laser lens with a cotton swab. Unplug the unit and remove the cover to access the laser. Spray a small amount of glass cleaner on the swab and gently wipe the lens of the laser assembly. Use the other end to dry it and remove excess dust. The only way you can tell if the disc is loading is to remove the top cover and observe if the disc at least loads and spins. If it does, try that procedure.

If the disc doesn't come up to the loaded position and spin (spin the disc by hand to confirm this), your gears may be out of alignment. Take the disc out, and use a screwdriver to manually turn the gear from the bottom of the unit. The gear should be visible through a small hole in the bottom toward the front of the unit. Take a slotted screwdriver and turn it until you see the laser assembly come up to the clamp that holds the disc in place. You may have to force it slightly if the gear has skipped a notch, it might "pop" as it goes past the tooth. Make sure you are turning it in the same direction as it moves when loading a disc! Once you do that, the laser should come up completely and be able to clamp the disc and read it.

Try running a "Laser Lens Cleaner" thru it, preferrably one that uses fluid. You can purchase one at just about any retail store for 15-20. Good to have and great preventative maintanance. If that does not work, you need a new transport, they do not repair or align lasers. Too expensive. The replacement is 100-150 with labor and a new one is under 200. My suggestion would be if the cleaner does not work replace it and keep the new one clean. CD/DVD/PC etc. all can and should be cleaned 3 or 4 times a year. Best preventative maintanance you can do. Hope this helps

this could be several things , one would be the cd spindle motor, needs to be cleaned, if it starts out sluggish and then reads..it needs to be cleaned..this can as simple as spraying some contact cleaner into the motor
