Sony KP-53s75 ....T.V genius,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,My TV turned off , pop...and now light flickers 4 times when i un plug and plug in,,,, light s on, solid ,red one, the turn off tv (which is black with no sound ) and back on Light again blinks 4 times ,can anyone help me out T.V repair man wants 122.00 to come out and says 100.00 for part which he said could be the wrong part?,,know electical in ibew,,,but not tv electronics. have lost manuel and hoping to watch world series,Thanks ,, surfdog

    I have the same problem with my Sony KP-53S75. It was on one evening

    and I heard a pop and screen went blank and sound is gone. The standby

    LED blinks red 4 times in a continous cycle.

Dead set , more than likely the TECH that came out is correct.It is common for this unit.
It seems though, that you questioning the repair cost. To me that repair cost is very, very, very good.
Technician's are experience people in their field, like a DOCTOR, it is not the time but the schooling and experience that you are paying for.

SONY KP-53S75 tv problem
the four times is a code for what part of your tv is having issues. A Qualified Sony Service Shop should be able to give you an idea and or cost of what the repair is. 'Call around'
1) My thoughts is that there is either an HOT, 'High Output Transistor' that has gone out or maybe even a flyback that sends the High voltage to your 3 crts.

On My sony kp 53s75 tv the picture does not fill the whole screen on the HD channels
it is most likely normal--first generation HD sets were 4X3 which means picture is either small left and right or top and bottom; sets which have 16X9 offer full screen HD

Hi,
4 times flash of standby light shows that TV has problem in Vertical Deflection area and possible causes are IC1509(V out) is broken and / or Q1505(V Pulse Buffer) is broken.
Please check / test above said IF you have experience of TV repair.

There are many things in this Model that can cause this problem. So I would recommend that you call an Authorized Service Dealer to come to your home & give an estimate.
The most common problem though is the IHVT.

Picture won't merge? It sounds like your TV has had a failure in the CONVERGENCE CIRCUIT by replacing those IC's should correct your TV's problem.
