Frigidaire top-loading affinity washer. I bought the floor model. It skips the "sensing" cycle, will not wash, fill or spin during wash cycle. It stays in wash cycle for less than 60 seconds, then

It does not fill. The basket moves back and forth a few times during wash cycle then switches to clean and shuts off. The entire process lasts about 40 seconds, then it goes to clean prior to shutting off. It skips the sensing cycle completely and does not fill with water at all.

SOURCE: Agitator Not Working

My Hotpoint VBXR1090B top loading washing machine quit spinning during the rinse cycle and also quit agitating. The water filled up and drained just fine --no leaks.
Here's how I fixed it in 5-minutes.
Tools:

  1. Putty knife
  2. Nut driver - I used a multi-purpose screwdriver without any heads attached.
Procedure:
  1. Unplug washer from the electrical outlet for safety
  2. Release two spring clips holding the front panel on: Insert a putty knife 5" in from the side between the top and the front panel. Pull the front panel forwards.
  3. Unscrew 2 screws holding the top down.
  4. Lift top - it's somewhat hinged in the rear with three tabs inserted in control panel.
  5. The little red tab at the end of the lid switch should be between the lip of the opening and the top; not sitting on top of the lip as mine was.  It's thin enough steel to push it with your bare hands.
  6. Make sure when the lid closes it actually causes the switch to turn on. You should hear a click.
  7. Put everthing back together. Plug washer back in. Put your tools away.
  8. Voilà. Done. Easy.  Even a woman or a ****** could do it.

SOURCE: My Whirlpool washer won't agitate or spin . But it does drain the water.

i also had the same problem, and it ended up being the coupler. It was not hard to replace, it cost me about 19.00. I didn't follow full recomende instructions. I tipped the washer backwards. Removed the drain pump and the motor itself. Then I removed the old coupling and placed the new one. The washer is working like new...

What causes my frigidaire top load washer to vibrate and make rattling noise during spin cycle

There are springs and bumpers/shocks in the machine that hold the tub. When they break or come loose, the tub wobbles.

Hi from retired Englishman in SW France

Sorry but being remote, not on site and answering problems on-line, there would be nothing we could advise in this situation other than you calling in an engineer.
1) the water level sensing is obviously malfunctioning and 2) there might be a knock-on effect with the door locking because it possibly has water in it when it shouldn't.
The sooner you have it fixed the better all round!
Sorry again,

Loud noise during spin cycle

I bought the frigidaire affinity washer. It was quiet until it began the spin cycle, then it sounded like a jet taking off and began to bounce. Come to find out we set it up improperly. You must remove all shipping bolts on the back of the machine and make sure it is level. Ta Da!! it now runs perfectly quiet with little vibration.
