I have a mx fs9000...lights come on but when I try to play a cd, it loads then goes into protect mode and shuts off. very frustrating!
Maybe one of your speaker cables is shorted somewhere.

I can not connect my Samsung galaxy s to my playstation 3 to transfer stuff wondered if you can help me
You wont be able to transfer stuff to the PS3, but you can view items on your TV through your PS3 using the "Allshare" app.

I bought an opticall cable to play my ps3 threw my philips mx 3800d surround sound system but it dose nothing why wont it work please help
Hi,

You have to set your audio out settings, since your PS3 is probably connected via HDMI and both video and audio passes through it you will need to select your audio source through the PS3 audio output settings and set it to optical out, here is a guide you can follow: http://manuals.playstation.net/document/en/ps3/current/settings/audiooutput.html

My samsung tv wont connect to my ps3 through the hdmi cable, the tv works if i connect my laptop or anything else to it. iv tried my ps3 on my lg an it work just fine just cant get it to work on my samsung...
When you have PS3 connected to the TV with HDMI connector, hold the ps3 power button down for 5 seconds, when u hear 2 beeps, release it and it should display standard format on the TV, thats when you'll get the option to correct the picture mode for the PS3. Hope that helps.

MX 3950D Philips - PS3 no sound
Aside from the xbox360 working via the coaxial digital cable. I got the PS3 to work this way.

I had to use the supplied SCART > (Y-video) (Red-Audio) (White-Audio) cable. Basically plugged this in from the PS3 directly to the MX 3950D Aux (Auxiliary) audio input.

On the PS3 audio settings menu, switched from HDMI to the 3rd option SCART.

Turn on the MX 3950D and set to Aux. Bang, got sound again.

I missed this cause I "assumed" the video/audio cable that came with the PS3 was a HDMI to Audio/Video cable, and didn't even see the SCART port in the back of the PS3. So I thought I didn't want to lose 1080p ..etc etc. Anyways. MX 3950D still good =)

Yes and no.  Yes you can connect the PS3 to the plasma using the component video inputs, games and videos will play fine.  However the native resolution of the TV is only 480P (852X480 pixels) which is much lower than the 1080P that the PS3 is capable of.  If you want a tv that can get the best possible image from the PS3 you would need a TV with full 1080P resolution and HDMI ports for digital input. Well your PS3 Can't connect with your TV to the Samsung, because PS3 Was made HD Blu-Ray. If your TV/Samsung is not supported by High Def. or Blu-Ray, it will not work, you will need a different HDMI Cable, and it should work fine.

same problem.. i always get the screen: "not supported mode". whatever the hell that means. so the issue is definately with the tv and not the playstation. has anyone tried contacting Samsung?
