Question about KitchenAid 24 in. KUDS01FLBL Built-in Dishwasher
Motor just hums during the wash cycle. Put it in diag mode, it puts water in and will drain water out, but just hums during wash. Is this the pump motor? or is it maybe jammed. Had a glass shatter and have been picking out pieces..all the way down to the grinder... Unit is about 6 or 7 years old.
OK, that piece of glass may have jammed the wash impeller. this will destroy the motor windings. you will need to gain access to the circulation motor asap.the impeller is attached to the motor that is housed within the pump casing(upper). try to manually move the impeller. if its stuck, try ot remove the obstruction.
It is possible that, the motor is already damaged to the point of no return. in this case, replace the circulation motor. your drain pump should be ran by a totally separate motor(wax).
**NOTE
Some models have two impellers inside the pump - one, wash impeller,
takes care of the wash cycles, the other, drain impeller, drains the
water out. If the drain impeller is broken (broken blades, shaft), the
dishwasher would not drain. Replace any broken pump components.
