My Frigidaire Gallery 18.2 top mount refrigerator freezer is about 2 years old and the freezer part has stopped freezing. The motor runs and it stays cool, but will not freeze foods. Bottom part of the refrigerator is working fine.

Hello, Thank You for using FixYa. I will be helping you today. All the cooling comes from the freezer side. So if the fresh food side is working then the freezer is only producing enough to allow the temps to be around 38 degrees. Do you notice any frost on the freezer back wall? Its possible its a defrost issue. Can you hear the fan Running in the freezer when the compressor is on? If these all seem fine then I would say you have a sealed system issue. Either a leak or bad compressor. Since its only a few months old call for factory service it should have a one year warranty on parts and labor.
Thank You and please rate my answer if it was helpful..
thata a close call, if you indeed know that the compressor is running.. should be hot when on..and still no cool in freezer section. sounds like a MAJOR refrigeration issue, requiring sealed system repair.. its close because the manufacturer covers selaed system repairs for 5 yrs. ck your manual and with the manufacture first, because you can replace the unit for cheaper than doing repair out of warrantee,
The baffle that opens to allow cooling into the refrigerator may be blocked, broken or mis wired. These units work by just cooling the freezer and then blowing some cold air into the refrigerator whenever the fridge thermostat calls for it. The fridge's thermostat is trying to cool the refrigerator but something is preventing the cool air from getting to the refrigeration part, that's why it's freezing up the freezer
Move the refrigerator to a room that is at least 50 degrees F.
Temps on most refrigerators are regulated by the fresh foods temp. If your garage is let's say 35 degrees, the fresh foods temp will most likely never raise enough to turn the refrigerator on. With the refrigerator never running, the freezer compartment will warm to 35 degrees, resulting in everything melting. Even if garage is a bit warmer, say 45, the refrig will not run long enough for the freezer to maintain a low enough temperture. If the garage temp falls to below freezing, say 20 degrees, the food in the fresh foods compartment will freeze. (outdoor beverage dispensers have internal heaters to prevent product from freezing !) Please don't rate this if not a Fix-Ya for you, as anything else lowers my score.
We ahve a two year old Frrigidaire Freezer. every year same time it seems to correct itself(?), like self defrosting etc, and takes a long time come back to its cooling level. This is made in brazil G series. Please help.

If your freezer is six years old the compressor warranty is also over. Sounds as though the system has lost its refrigerant charge. A refrigerant leak in these smaller units is difficult to locate and somewhat expensive to repair. Your choice.
