CALLER ID ONLY SHOWS "INCOMING CALL"

Hi all,

I have recently bought a Uniden DSS 7955 cordless phone with 2 additional handsets. It has got integrated answering machine as well.

I bought this phone from Australia, but now using this phone in India.

I have Caller ID enabled from my network provider, and the caller id works fine in the other phone I have got. However, when someone calls, the Uniden phone only shows "Incoming Call". I have also made sure that the caller is not blocking their number. So this happenes on any call I receive.

I have gone through the manual, and have also tried to reset all the handsets and base, but no result.

Any help will be much appreciated.

I was using this site while trouble shooting this in the US...
If the customer has DSL with filters in the same system go back to the NID and Isolate the DSL,
test the caller id and call waiting caller id. If this works you have Data Bleed coming from the DSL.
Make sure there are not two sets of filters on the line. Tjis customer had a filter with the DSL modem.

Doing this we just fixed an on going problem for a field tech who was the second callout on a customer issue.

Have the same problem with a Panasonic KX-TG9344T phone bought from USA used in india. is it a local generated problem?

  • Anonymous Jul 10, 2008

    Hi

I had a similar problem when my new DECT Panasonic phone would not display caller id and only displays "Incoming Call".
I even have a talking caller id on this phone. I followed the advise given her to put a DTMF TO FSK convertor. I got the convertor for 400 INR in Bangalore and fixed it . Now the problem is solved,
Also it does not have any power supply/battery charger. It infact looks exactly like a ADSL splitter. Infact the convertor was made by Uniden in China and has a number UST10008 I think
    Thanks

    Raj

For the caller Id to work in India you need a a ADSL Splitter/Filter model no.UST0028. The problem is the particular model is not easily avilable.I tried other filters, like RJ11, but they dont work, with the panasonic deact6 cordless phone.

How do I identify an incoming phone number?

You need to have Caller ID from your phone Co. 1st. Then when you get a call the number shows up as the phone rings. The handset also has a button called,CID,which you can press and see the last 100 calls you've recieved:)

Uniden cordless phone caller id quit working

Using the Caller ID and Redial Lists
Caller ID (CID) is a service available from your telephone provider that shows the phone number (and sometimes the caller's name) of incoming calls. Contact your telephone provider for more information.
Caller ID list

Redial list

When a call comes in, the phone displays the number and name (if available) of the caller.
The phone saves the information for the last 30 received calls to the

CID list.
When it's in standby, the handset shows how many calls came in since the last time you checked the CID list.

Each handset remembers the last 5 numbers you dialed on it. The redial list is separate for each handset.

UNIDEN TRU8888-CALLER ID DOES NOT WORK

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. I think you have stored more than 100 Caller ID messages and hence the caller ID is not showing on Uniden Tru8888. In the following cases the caller ID will not be shown-

If you answer a call before the Caller ID message is received (for example, before the second ring), the Caller ID message will not appear.

When the call is received via a telephone company that does not offer Caller ID service, the caller’s phone number and name does not appear. (This includes some international calls.)

When the call is via a private branch exchange (PBX), the caller's phone number and name may not appear.

You may receive any one of the following messages:

When a private name is received; Private Name
When a private number is received; Private Number
When a unknown name is received; Unknown Name
When a unknown number is received; Unknown Number
When invalid data is received; Incomplete Data

The Caller ID list stores information for incoming calls - even unanswered calls. You can store up to 100 Caller ID messages and phonebook entries (including Speed Dials) for each handset and the base. You can view the Caller ID list through the handset or base during a call or when the phone is in standby mode.

Memory locations for Caller ID messages and Phonebook entries (including Speed Dials) are common, you can store up to all 100 entries for each handset and the base. Caller ID messages are not stored when you have 100 phonebook entries. When you have stored a total of 100 phonebook entries and Caller ID messages, the oldest Caller ID message is overwritten.

Please do rate the solution and revert for further assistance.

Thanks

UNIDEN 5.8 GHZ CORDLESS PHONES

Registering Handsets to the Base
Whichever handset you choose to charge in the base is automatically
registered to the base. Any additional handsets must also be registered to
the base before you can use them.
Be sure both handsets are fully charged.
One at a time, place each handset in the base. The charge/in use LED on
the base begins to flash, indicating the base is registering the handset.
Wait for at least five seconds, then pick up the handset and press
[talk/flash]. If the display shows TALK, the handset is registered. If not,
place the handset in the base to try again.
Press [end] and continue with the next handset.
Note:
Once both handsets are registered, it doesn’t matter which
handset is placed in the base or the charger.
When you charge the handsets, Caller
ID summary screen and the name of
the handset appears.
