It helps SO much when you include the Model number of the printer you are asking about. If it happens to be a Dell 1720 then simply push the tab down located at the top right of the output bin. that Tab sticks open can cause the light to flash.
Make sure that cable to printer is attached and if printer still shows offline then in control panel for the printers make sure that you right click and choose Use Printer Online
What the flashing light means The Power light can flash for several reasons: ? The printer cover is open. ? The printer is out of paper. ? A problem exists with the printer, such as a paper jam or a problem with a print cartridge. For information
1)either any of the printer cartridge is faulty.remove the cartridge and clean it with tissue paper.
2)or the printouts are pending in printque.delete all the printouts and then try .
any one of the above options will solve the problem.
if cleaning the cartridge does not solve that means it faulty so replacement of cartridge is necessary.
Add a bit more detail and I may be able to help you. Under what situation does the light come on. Is it a constant light or a flashing one. Does it happen at the same point every time (i.e. startup, when beginning a print job, half way through a print job etc) or is it intermittent. Have you had any other problems recently like a paper jam, have you changed anything (ink for instance).
go to Start, Settings, Control panel, printers and faxes is your printer there? is there a checkmark? no, then right click and set as default, put your mouse over it does it say Ready? no, then change cable.
send test page, it should print, if not the USB or Parrallel input of your printer has a problem.
