Unable to display imges when connected to computer.

My powershot A460 is displaying images on its screen but is unable to do so when is connected to computer. When it is disconnected from the computer and is operated separately, it shows all the images and videos in the card, but as soon as it is connected to computer either through the data cable or directly through the memory card, the screen displays "no images" message or scanner wizard shows the "There are no images in your camera" message and I am unable to access any image in the camera even.

Please see the following blog article, as it describes the use of a card reader as a much easier, faster, and less error prone way to download your photos. In fact there are several important reasons discussed in the article for using a card reader vice downloading from the camera. USB Card readers are also very inexpensive these day, with cost virtually not an issue:

Does the camera display a light when it is charging? I have it connected to my computer but there doesn't appear to be any evidence of it charging.

As I understand these kind of cameras does not charge when connected to a computer. You need a separate charger.
The A460 uses 2x Size-AA Alkaline or NiMH Batteries.

I seem to be unable to load photos from my cannon powershot A460 to my computer???

Try NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program such as Picasa.

I downloaded the CD on my computer but my computer isn't finding the camera. so I am unable to download my pictures from the powershot A460.

You can download the photos directly using free picasa software's IMPORT tab.
Another method is to connect the camera Start. My Computer and you can see the camera as an external drive D: or E: Click on that and folders within until you see your photos. make sure to save extra copies of the enclosing photo folder.

No image display on camera mode

There are different settings. You can view the past photos because you are using the viewer for that, but you have a setting off in the menu. You need to turn on view photo or preview photo after picture taken. I am not sure what it is in the Canon line, but look in your manual for the setting.

Unable to display Date or time in pictures taken from Canon PowerShot A720 IS

You have to select 'Postcard' for the image size -- on the same menu as L, M1, M2, M3, S, Postcard.

The following blog outlines some repair options for a lens error. They won't work for all cases, but they're worth a try if the camera's no longer under warranty:
