SOURCE: won't feed paper

I had the same problem it was not feeding paper, and was giving the out of paper msg, I checked and the feed roller ( small black one in contact with paper) was not rotating, Also when the back cover is removed the roller also did not rotate. I took apart the printer and found that a white gear with the encoder disc (clear film with printed lines) on the central shaft was slighty broken, The shaft is knurled but is a poor design. I had to drill through the gear and the shaft to fit a pin to be able to fully secure the gear to the shaft. Kevin

SOURCE: hp 3310 paper feed

Take off the back of the printer - there is a door running almost the full length which has a latch. Using regular rubbing alcohol and a Q-TIP(R) cotton swab, clean the little rubber rollers which grab the paper from the tray. The rollers you need to clean will be low and on the left as you look at the back of the printer and they are about 2 inches inside the printer. There are 2 of them. Paper dust builds up on them and they fail to grab the next sheet of paper, causing the error message. Works every time!

SOURCE: HP PSC 1350 printer won't feed paper

Check the gear on the left side of your printer where the disk encoder strip is attach, the gear is not holding the metal shaft your need to replace that gear. The problem is in the inner hole where the shafting is attached.

Hp Officejet 6500 won't feed paper

Problem:
The 'drop down paper grabber' gears are not turning, and the printer gives you an error saying to make sure there is paper in the printer.
All of the fixes on the internet are for working printers, and their approach is to clean the rollers if they are not grabbing the paper. They are assuming they are turning properly and the rubber grabbing wheels are wither dirty of dried out.
In my case, however, the gears were not turning, and so the rubber grabbers wheels were not turning, even though the whole 'paper grabber' unit was dropping down properly
Solution:
Just inside the paper loader tray, along the top, there is a metal rod. It is about 1 inch from the front.
The gears from the drop down paper grabber are supposed to meet a gear that resides on this rod and sort of floats on it. However, the gear on my printer slipped to the left, and was not making contact with the other gears.
You can gently put your finger on the gears as you do a copy command, and confirm this.
To fix the printer, I just slid the floating gear over to the right and into place, and the paper began feeding properly.
Why there is nothing to keep the gear in place is a mystery to me.

Paper out

Could be caused by a few things. Recent paper jam could have caused this issue so should use a can of air for electronics and blow out the wheels and around the paper feeder that grabs and feeds the paper. If printer is small enough can turn it upside down and shake it out could have something dropped into paper feeder. Some HP printers have trap doors in bottom that catch things caught in printer. If it is none of these could be a bad sensor.

The paper will not feed at the moment of printing so disconnected printer on doing so to remove it from the office a small white plastic wheel dropped out Is this fixable or is the printer naff

Hi,
Yes the printer is fixable, the while plastic wheel which dropped down was the rollers wheel which can be fixed by a technician. And the problem with paper not feeding is due to dirt in the roller or paper jammed inside. Hope this helps.
Please rate if the solution was helpful, thanks!

When I press print, the printer tries to take the paper, but the roller/wheels do not come down and grab the paper. Therefore, the printer says out of paper

if the paper fed rollers do not drop onto the paper it is possible the cam is jammed.
turn the unit off remove the paper and try to pull the paper fed arm downwards and try turning the rollers counter clockwise also.
if the arm drops power back up and retry a pcl command if not you may need a technician to strip the unit and adjust the cam gearing or solenoid action depending on the feed and separation capabilities

Paper jamming and no scanning

Greetings,
error is caused by the paper feed assembly flag being stuck in place.
This unit is located behind the tray 1 pickup.
Once the tray 1 pikcup is removed you will see the two feed shafts, these grab paper sent by tray 2 or 3 and make sure it gets to the registry assembly, the feed unit is necessary to cater for small media.
Just to the left of center is the flag, its common to see this totally stuck in the open position, flex the shafts with your fingers and you will see the flag snap back to position.
Give it a clean then lubricate the flag pivot point with a drop of silicon oil (cheap furniture polish is ideal) put a drop on a cotton bud then lubriacte the pivot point - make sure not to contaminate the feed rollers.
Re-assemble and you should be good to go.

Regards,

HP Office jet Pro L7380 will not pick up paper

Paper feed problems are very common with HP officejet printers but don't panic...

Few things to try..
1. Check that when the printer tries to feed paper the wheel is dropping down and making contact with the paper.

2. Make sure you have not set the paper guides so the paper is too tightly held... try loosening them

3. Watch this little video on how to fan-apart paper and try doing this to get some air in between the paper sheets.. This often resolves many of the problems.

4. Try changing the paper for something a bit coarser or even cheaper as HP printers can be a bit "Fussy" about the paper they will feed best...

Hope that helps...
