Question about PC Chips P25G Motherboard

Cannot install winxp

I have tried several times to install winxp on this motherboard.  It always comes up and tells me there is a problem with the hard drive.  It does this even with the new ide hard drive i attached.  I have tried disabling the sata portion of the motherboard just incase it was assuming i was installing an sata.  PCCHIPS support says i do not have to install the raid drivers when using ide, but i even tried that and i still get the error.  Yes, I am using a genuine copy of windows before someone asks.  I am beginning to believe I just have a faulty motherboard unless someone can possibly tell me something I haven't tried that may help.

this is what i have done

okay, first, i am clearing the bios....then i return bios to normal...i attach a cdrom as secondary master, anew maxtor 40gb hdd fresh out of the package, no formatting or partitioning on it...i install 512mb ddr266 ram....attach monitor, mouse, keyboard....install northwood 2.4ghz cpu socket 478 and heatsink with fan.....then attach a 550w power supply to the mainboard and cdrom and hdd. I hook up the face of the pc case to the power supply switch. I then turn on pc and open bios to make cdrom the first boot up option. press f10 to save changes. I then insert winxp cd rom into cdrom drive and hit ctrl alt del to restart pc. .... win xp runs setup then i choose f8 to accept their conditions. I then choose to install winxp in the upartitioned disk space. It begins to format the partition at 20% then jumps to 100% and comes up with.....setup was unable to format the partition. The disk may be damaged. Make sure the drive is switched on and properly connected to your computer. If the disk is a SCSI drive make sure your devices are properly terminated. You must select a different partition for winxp.

I have gotten this with 3 different new hard drives.

I have problem in asus A8V-vm motherboard in that hard disk is not detected in BIOS but Win-XP is working properly and when I tries to install new windows XP it shows an error that hard disk cannot be...

Asus A8V-VM Motherboard coming with SATA RAID option, thats why you could not see the detected HDD in system BIOS. But you can see the the detected HDD in RAID BIOS. You can enter to RAID BIOS that will pop up after system BIOS. If you are using old version of WinXP it will not detect the RAID controller of you motherboard. Thats why you cannot able to install WinXP. While you booting from WinXP CD press F6 key when the WinXP installer prompted for third party driver. Copy the RAID driver provider in driver CD to a Floppy Disk (INF file) and insert it, hit enter to continue the installation. If you are using WinXP Service pack 2 or higher you do not need this step it will automatically detect the HDD.

One bad lead will cause your computer to continue in a cycle
replace all the leads that attach to your hard drive including electrical extensions + IDE,SATA and the ones that attach from your motherboard to hard drive

I have a k8u-x motherboard.. my problem is i cant install winxp in it because it doesnt detect any hardisk during the setup. All my floppy drives are damage as well as my floppies. Is there any way to...

Your trying to install windows 3.1 or 98 ? I have never seen Windows XP or newer on floppy disk is why I ask. That will not resolve your problem though. If you are sure you have the hard drive installed and connected with at least one of them set to Master, if you are installing 2, You may need to enter Bios and have it auto detect the Hard Drives in the Bios. If the Bios doesn't recognize the Hard drive or you have 2 hard drives and one isn't set to Master it won't matter what media you use you won't be able to install anything on the hard drive.

My computer won't always boot up. i push power on, starts drives start to wind up, then it shuts off. sometimes after several times it will start.

its hard to tell but there are various possibilities: it could be of a defective RAM, hard disk, or corrupted operating system try to perform a full format and reinstall ur windows the update all your drivers. If the problem persist u should check your Ram in case of wrong installation or damage.
