It's sixteen years old - replace it, and get the movies professionally converted to DVD

SOURCE: No picture in LCD

The most common problem I see in this camera is the LCD harness itself. A crease forms in the cable and opens the B+ line going to the backilght assembly. I would also check the chemical fuses located on the DC input board to see if any are open due to a shorted inverter in the LCD module. The open fuse will show low ohms to ground if the inverter is shorted. Good Luck my friend! Joe Weibel customelectronics.org

You should go into the menu, camera settings and set the evf to on. EVF stands for electronic view finder. This can be set to be on when the lcd is open or closed. CAreful, if the evf is set to on and you point the viewfinder towards the sun, it will burn white marks into the viewfinder and ruin it.

Supercam ah dp800h powers on but nothing in the view finder

most likely problem is many defective capacitors on the video board.

The motor circuit on most handycams has it's own fuse since it draws more power then the rest of the camera combined.
The fuse will only be a tiny white blip on the circuit board about 1-2mm in size.
Safest option would be to have a technician take a look at it since they can be stubborn to even get apart, let alone track down mico fuses.

No picture

he CCD (charge coupling device) went kaput like all those others who are complaining about no picture in the view finder. My technician told me that this happens when 1) on exposure to hot climate 2) if we focus too far, like into the sky or by mistake at the sun or some bright flourescent light. This fact is not mentioned in the accompanying instruction manual, atleast i did not find it. I hope all current users take these precautions, it is too late for me, I am not spending any more money on this digital camcorder. I sincerely request Canon to withdraw this product. i found this info hope it is helpful
