Try typing on a miltipart form. If the carbons are good the problem is the ribbon. Not lifting, folded, very old or the correction tape is in the way. If the copies are the same then be sure the platen is seated fully in the side frames.
Make sure you are entering the letters in upper-case when entering the password to connect to this router. The iPad always shows letters on the keyboard in upper-case, but they may be entered in lower-case and it will not connect.
Your ink cartridge has about 9 very small nozzles that spray ink to complete a letter the upper nozzles complete the upper half and the lower half is done by the lower nozzles. The lower nozzles are stopped or clogged up by dried up ink or the control resisters in the firing circuit are burned out. some times you can unclog the nozzles by soaking the lower part of the cartridge in hot water for a half hour and drying it well ,replace it in the carrier and try it again. However you will lose a lot of ink and it may be more prudent to replace the cartridge.
