SOURCE: I have a hotpoint fridge

I have tried the above solution without success. The only solution to the problem that works is to empty the fridge/freezer switch it off and allow it to do a full defrost. Then switch it on again. This appears to have sorted the problem

SOURCE: HOTPOINT FFA70 FRIDGE FREEZER

I had this problem and it was fixed relatively easily. Get everything out of your fridge freezer and switch it off overnight to allow it to defrost.

In the bottom freezer compartment there is a panel behind the draws which you can remove but you will need a special tool from a DIY shop. Its like an allen key, but with a star shaped end.

When I got the panel off I found that the filament was covered thick with ice even though it had been off for hours. No wonder it wasn't working properly. I melted this with a hairdryer. You want to take your time with this as you could easily damage the freezer if you try chipping the ice out.

Freezer works perfectly now and is very quiet.

SOURCE: red warning light on lowtemp display, freezer

Hi,

As the weather is getting warmer for many people their freezer and/or refrigerator do not work right because of a dirty condenser coil...there are also many other things that can go wrong. If you are hearing a clicking or buzzing then check out the last two tips.

If your refrigerator is running but warm, then…

Check out this tip that I wrote about that... it is a great place to start trouble shooting your unit...and something that you can do rather then calling a repair person to do a simple thing for you...

No alarm sounding but red light is flashing?

Warning light (red)
If the temperature warning light (4) lights up, it
indicates that the temperature within the freezer has
reached a level where the safe food storage is no
longer ensured. When the freezer is first switched on, the warning light will stay on until the temperature has dropped to
a safe level for the storage of frozen food.

Temperature acoustic alarm
This appliance incorporates an alarm which gives off
an audible signal whenever the warning light comes
on. This signal can be temporarily stopped by
depressing the push button for fast-freezing (6).
The fast-freezing push button can be released as
soon as the warning light is off.

Open door acoustic alarm
This appliance also incorporates an alarm which
sounds if the door is left open for more than 60
seconds. The signal will be stopped when the door is
closed again.

I have a hotpoint freezer FZS175, the alarm is going off. I've followed the instructions, turned the thermostat to zero, waited, then back to mid-way, pressed the fast freezer button. The freezer

Just had exact same issue with our FZS175 upright Hotpoint freezer - could not reset the alarming state.
Tried defrosting (even though it didn't look like it needed it) but still no change.
Then found the shaft of the little plastic thermostat control knob had sheared off. The only way to tell this has happened is to remove the control panel cover (switch off at mains first of course).
Superglued the broken knob shaft back together, inserting a 1mm steel reinforcing pin (cut from a woodworking panel pin) to prevent it happening again, and all is now well.
I think I am in the wrong profession (British wildlife documentaries)!

I have a hotpoint freezer which is self defrosting but its icing up and warning message keeps flashing up

There is defrost timer, that will shut off the freezer and turn on a heating element that quickly defrosts the cooling fins. then it cycles back on. If any part of that system goes out the freezer will not defrost.

How do you reset the alarm and stop the red light from flashing? It has been 3 days now and every time we have check to see if the contents has started to defrost, there is no signs of defrosting, everything inside of the freezer remains frozen solid.

Its keeps peeping

Hello twins49
Welcome to Fixya,

You said, your Frigidaire freezer 17 cu. ft. , it keeps buzzing or peeping
The alarm may be malfunctioning or it may be warning you of low temperature.
You can go to any hard ware store and buy a refrigerator thermometer and ask them if it can go into a freezer too!It can, But ask anyway!

If it is cold enough then it is a faulty alarm going off.

Your freezer may be equipped with an alarm.
Here is some information that may help you find it and turn it off if you wish

Temp Alarm (audible only or audible with warning light)

This feature is designed to provide a warning of possible malfunction. If the
temperature of the food rises to a level unsafe for long-term storage, the buzzer will
sound. The red light will also glow on models so equipped. The Temp Alarm feature
operates on household electricity. If power fails, the alarm will not perform. An ON/
OFF switch allows you to deactivate the Temp Alarm when not wanted. The freezer
is shipped with Temp Alarm in the OFF position. After freezer has run approximately
4 hours, the red light, if equipped, will go off. Then you may activate the Temp Alarm
without the alarm sounding.
Press the ON switch to activate the Temp Alarm. To deactivate, press the OFF switch.
If the alarm sounds, be sure freezer is properly leveled, and the door closes freely, and
seals properly. If you suspect a technical malfunction, call an authorized servicer
immediately.

Let me no what you find.

Alarm

the alarm is there to warn you that the freezers not up to set tempature.. The reason as I see what you wrote would be a stuck or burnt out auto defrost timer motor. or the units got a leak in the refrigerant line??? good luck
