After a few minutes my dryer says ad and a 3 lights are lit

The lights are flashing as an error code? what lights are lit/flashing, what rate of flashing etc? more information may help sort this faster

1. • 1 Make sure the home's gas supply valve is turned on. Check your Maytag owner's manual to find the location of the dryer's gas shut-off valve. This is usually behind the dryer's front panel or in the back of the unit. Open the valve to allow gas to flow into the dryer.
     
   • 2 Open the lower front panel of the dryer to access the pilot light assembly. Press and hold the starter button as you light the pilot with a handheld lighter. If you have trouble getting it to light, release the starter button and wait a few minutes before trying it again. Once the pilot is lit, hold the starter button down for another minute to make sure it will stay burning.

   • 3 Close the dryer's front panel and run a test cycle to see if it is producing heat. Call a repairman to evaluate the problem if lighting the pilot did not restore the heat.
     

AD is a indication of board problems.I would unplug the unit for 20 minutes to see if unit will reset

try unplugging wait a few minutes and try again this may reset the control; board

If the display shows an '88' then place a heating pad over the display. In a few minutes the '88' code will clear, and the dryer will work. Sounds crazy, but it works for me every time.

look to the far right buttons labled control lock, hold it in for 3-5 secs, to unlock

Pressing STOP/CANCEL to clear the display.
If this does not work.
pull the plug for 5 minutes or if you can't reach the plug you can turn the power off form th breaker for 5 minutes.
This should reset the system.
