please check the thermal fuse just above the lamp and see if it is open you will require a ohm meter.

Lamp light flashing once every 5 seconds or twice every 5? Twice every 5 seconds,....lamp failure, once every 5 seconds,...ballast or thermal fuse failure. You have a lamp, ballast or thermal fuse problem. The ballasts are a discontinued part and can only be purchased used at approx. $225.00 or rebuilt for around $175.00 less any service charges to diagnois and repair.

hi I just read that this tv needs a few minutes to warm up i am going to .try it. iam having same problem. i had a tv tech install a bulb and it worked .
but i had a dispute with the tech about the cost of the fix and he took out his bulb and all though i purchased a new housing with bulb in it so that i didn,t have to touch the bulb, when i put it in i got nothing but green to flashing red to yellow. so if my bulb is good and the tech didn't
do something malicous than something has to be reset so that the tv will work because not even the sound of the tv worked.

After lamp replacement, make sure that lamp cover is properly fixed on its location and if TV still does not turn On then it is ballast power supply issue, qualified TV tech will fix it.

I'm not sure if this is the professional way:) -- but when my pansonic 1080i was acting up just like that - I placed a small fan at the back of the right side of the TV unit and faced it towards the TV air vents and voila the TV stays on and stays cooler. No more blinking lights. I don't think the cooling fan that draws the air out of the TV was working and the TV was overheating. Saved me some money in repairs and after a year it is still working well. A quick and cheap fix - but it worked. Jeanne

Take the bulb out, there should be a access panel in the front, power the set on,(be sure to have the lamp door closed) if you hear a rapid ticking noise from the set, the Ballast is trying to fire the lamp, this is a good indication that the set is functional but the lamp needs to be replaced. If not, the ballast is not getting the voltage needed to start the lamp.

My Panasonic PT-50LC13 when turned on has a green light for a few seconds you can hear the fans turn on and then you have a yellow/amber light that starts to blink 8 times i have replaced the bulb and the door is closed any ideas?

It very well could be the ballast. I unfortunately have this tv and keep extra bulbs because they go out about once a year. Last time when I replaced the bulb the tv blinked and the red lamp light flashed like it does when the bulb is bad. Ballast repair kit fixed it up. This is certainly a design issue but you'll get no help from Panasonic. If tv comes on the goes out after a while, clean the fan filter.

i'm on my 3rd bulb in 5 yrs. i hate this tv. this time my bulb light didn't come on. instead the power light flashed green fast then went to red flashing after. i took out the bulb and it's blown!
