Upon switching my printer on today, the Cyann ink tank can not be recognised, error U150. The contacts do not appear dirty but I have not given them a real clean, the other tanks work perfectly, what could be the problem here?
Did it fix it?
The same as my problem:
My brand new MP510 reported it couldn't recognise the cyan cartridge, we took out the cyan cartride, then immediately clicked it back in...the light came on & it worked for a couple of days. Then it began being "not recognised " more & more frequently, but would work for a while if loosened then replaced, until it refused to be recognised AT ALL. If one tank can't be recognised the whole printer wont work which is VERY inconvenient. The shop we bought it from is a long drive away, but I managed to get a new cyan locally, & we've had no trouble for 2 weeks. BUT yesterday the yellow intermitently couldn't be recognised, and today refuses to be recognised at all...so my printer again wont function at all. It seems to be a design fault if one cartride malfunction negates the whole machine....most of my printing needs are black for documents.

I have a Canon MP510 and I keep getting the U150 error message.
The fault shows when you first switch the printer on :-
'The following ink tank cannot be recognized.'
Removing and replacing the cyan cartridge has cured the fault a few times.
But now the fault is permanent and it will not clear.
This is the third fault that I have had with this printer in two months so potential buyers beware!
I just received my new MP510 and having the same problem with the cyan cartridge. Canon just offered these through their estore at 1/2 price. Now I see why. Will call Canon this morning.
Same problem. The error message 150 continually comes up for the Cyan tank. I have clicked it back into place and it again shows same error. has done this on and off for a few weeks now. At present, it is anot working at all.

It seems I am not alone with this problem of Canon MP510 cartridge recognition. Surprise, the CYAN cartridge seems to be the troublemaker. The problem also disappeared BUT only for awhile in the beginning by reinstalling the cartridge and now it is always unrecognizeable. I have been able to use that cartridge only few times. Now I am wondering that will this problem disappear by replacing the cyan cartridge by a new one or will it appear again. I guess there can be few root cause choices, either the cartridge is faulty, contact improper or MP510 has some strange bug. I believe and hope it is the first case but then it is question of how many of those faulty cartridges are in the market. Too bad I don't have any receipt left from these cartridges.
i got the same problem. :-/
Same problem, with black ink tank.
I've the same problem too but with the magenta ink tank. Printer and ink tanks are only about 2 months old, with very little use. As with others, refitting the ink tank made this work again a few times, but now, nothing....Argh!
I have the exact same problem with the MP600 - obviously Canon have alot of probs with their inktanks. The only solution I have had so far is to replace the inktanks which is fiendishly expensive. I think I might actually replace the printer as it will be cheaper very soon.
Yea, I get the same problem with my MP510 and the Magenta Cartridge. Took the tank out, replaced it,then another tank would give the same problem, so i take them all out, replace, and then it works fine. That solution worked for approximately a month, until it stopped working altogether. The printer has been used intermittently since I got it for christmas, and all tanks are a little under half full.
The shop it was bought from is out of my way, because I don't have a car, and the other nearest chain is about a 40 minute drive away.
I will try phoning Canon support and see what happens.
Cyan ink tank is not recognise, although it is half full.
same here. got this mp520 for 07 xmas. it suddenly showed the u150 error recently and now it says it wont recognize the black or cyan. ive only used the printer about 5 times since i got it. i called tech support and they are sending new cartridges but i feel this is just sterring around the problem rather than dealing with an obvious issue with these printers. besides, i need to print something NOW and i cant, all the while cannon has profited form selling me this piece of **** and i cant even use it. how lame.
is there a solution to this yet?
I have a Canon PIXMA MP800R. I have the exact same problem at the moment with the Cyan Cartridge it’s about 95% full. This has happened before with all the other colors, In the past I have just installed a new ink cartridge and the problems solved. This has become very expensive throwing nearly full cartridges away. I have noticed they never fail when they are nearly empty. Why dose it lock out all the other functions of the printer i.e. scanning etc, very inconvenient.
I went on canons web site and reported the error U150, not had a reply yet but will keep you all informed, As to what they say, And the final outcome.
U150 with my MP510 and I'm getting it with a fairly new black cartridge from Canon. I hate this printer!
I have the same problem but I cannot find the Canon number for the UK where I bought my printer. Does anyone have the telephone number wher you can speak to a human being?Â
If so please post. Thanks
