Raise the bed extension, revealing the bobbin area. Gently pull out on the bobbin case latch and it should pop right out in your hand. Congrats on your 301, they are wonderful machines!

How to thread the bobbin of a singer 90s

First make sure that the needle is fully up (use the hand-wheel). Move the bobbin cover release button to the right and lift the bobbin cover out of the way. Remove the current bobbin, if needed. Hold the new, full bobbin so that the thread comes off the bobbin counter-clockwise when you pull the thread. Place the bobbin into the bobbin case. Pull the thread through the slot near the bottom of the case and to the left. Place a finger on top of the bobbin. Next bring the thread left further towards the back of the bobbin case until it stops in the second slot (near the 8 o'clock position if you compare the position to a 12-hour analog clock). Pull the thread back through the groove in the cover plate until it is cut by the thread cutter at the top left of the cover plate. (The thread will turn a "corner" to the cutter.) Replace the bobbin cover.

Singer has the manual for most of their sewing machines here: http://www.singerco.com/support/instruction-manuals . The direct link to the manual for the 90S is http://www.singerco.com/uploads/download/26e7243ab52aaed42904377fea7b090541eb0c9b.pdf . See pages 16-17 (page 18 in the PDF for the English description) and pictures that may be better than the verbal description.

I hope this helps.

Problem with singer 590c. Thread bunches up & breaks or the bobbin thread wont sew. 1 time happened to get everything right & it sewed beautifully.Today I cant get it to pick up the bobbin thread.

Make sure to use a brand new needle.
ALWAYS RAISE the presser foot when threading.
Unthread and re-thread from the beginning.
Verify the thread path is correct.
Set the upper tension to midway between High & Low numbers.
Verify the bobbin is loaded and threaded correctly in the bobbin case.
Begin sewing slowly and check the result. The upper tension can be tweaked so the upper & bobbin threads meet in the middle of the fabric.

If it is still not working properly, the machine may be out of time and require service.

Bobbin thread bunching on singer sewing machine...have changed needle and tensions! Help

Try a ball point 11/70 or stretch 11/70 needle. Also rethread the entire machine. Make sure the needle is inserted correctly in the sewing machine. I had this same thing happen to me recently and I found I had the needle backwards.

Singer 301a Bobbin troubles

I just had this problem, too - if you have the manual, check out page 15. If you have removed the throat plate, you need to make sure that the position finger on the bobbin case base enters a notch on the underside of the throat plate. Fixed my problem right away.

Bobbin thread is coming to top when embroidering. I have changed needle and re-threaded several times

Just an FYI-the bobbin thread needs to match your top thread. The majority of the thread that appears in the top of your embroidery actually IS the bobbin thread. The machine is working correctly. Don't use a bobbin full of white thread-instead, thread a bobbin with the color your doing the embroidery work in to match and you will have a perfectly beautiful embroidery.

I have a Singer Special Zig Zag Model 418. I can

More than likely you have a broken vertical shaft gear.

When you turn the handwheel you should see the sewing hook moving under the bobbin case.

If not, take it to a sewing repair person and it should cost somewhere around $100 to repair.

What kind of bobbin singer 301 machine use

The Singer 301 uses the same bobbin as the Singer 221 (also known as a Featherweight). Not surprisingly it's called a Class 221/301 bobbin and is Singer part number 45785. If you don't have a Singer dealer or large sewing machine repair shop in your area, I would suggest purchasing from a reputable online seller such as Vintage Sewing or Sewing Machine 221 Sale. Below is a picture of what both the older and newer style of this bobbin looks like. 11da97d.jpg
