Ok guys, bought a new SD card Kingston 4gb for our EXz57 and I just get card error everytime I put it in. Have formatted to see if that worked no joy. All the other SD cards we have are fine its just this one. I'm leaning towards a card issue as it has to be plugged into the PC a couple of times before it gets recognised.
Any one got any thoughts???
Thank You
Nicky
I have two Casio Exilim cameras:
One is a EX-Z55 that is 2 years old. I bought a Transcend 4 Gig 150X card but when I tried to use it, the camera formatted it as a 1 Gig. When I read the card, it has 2 partitions, 1 gig active, 3 unused. I used a utility (HP Drivekey CF Card Utility) and wiped out the partitions, reformating it back to 4 Gig. Back in the camera, and same problem. It says "Memory Full" So I format it again with the camera and it goes back to 1 Gig again. I even tried SDFormatter and no luck there either.
After hours of frustration and no results, I formatted it back to 4 Gig and inserted the card into my 2 day old EX-Z77. I turn the camera on and well well well!! It works perfect and the camera recognizes it as a 4 Gig. I tested it and everything is fine in the Z77. As soon as I pull it out and try the Z55, no luck again.
Conclusion: The Z55 does not support the 4 Gig card and the 2 year newer Z77 does.
If I had a 2 Gig card I would try it but all I have is several 1's and a 4. But that may not work either as the camera formats the 4 as a 1. I figure if it supported 2 gigs it would format the 4 as such.
Hope this helps
I believe any SD cards larger than 2Gb are technically SDHC cards, which are not compatible with all cameras. Kingston is a decent company so I'm guessing it's not because the card is a dud. If your camera doesn't advertise SDHC compatibility then I don't think you can get the card to work in it.
