Question about Maytag Performa LAT2500A

The drum does not spin. the agitator works normally, then when time to empty the pump works, but an odor of the belt slipping is noticed and the drum will not spin. When lifted up to inspect the belts, they appear normal, and the drum can be manually spun in reverse but not clockwise.

The tension spring may have come if or worn. I would try a belt also. Belts stretch. So that wouldn't be visible to you as damage.

Seems to be a transmisson problem, the pump is driven by the motor also. so the motor should be ok. and the agitator works ok. believe it would be a transmission gear failure.

Smoke come in out while spinning

Don't know what machine you have if it has a belt check it. Take belt off & see the motor turns freely also with the belt off see if you can turn the drum if one of them won't turn the belt will slip & cause burning smell. Small clothes getting under the agitator even sometimes in the pump can cause this , check under agitator & check the pump it may not turn if a sock or something gets in it & this can cause the belt to slip. If these seem ok put it in spin & watch the motor it could have a short & will smoke. Good luck
hope this helps.

I have a Frigidaire affinity front load washer (fafs4474lwo) it doesn't do the final spin to get the water out of the clothes. I was getting an E52 and E58 codes. I replaced the drive motor and the motor...

Just a thought. If the drum spins when washer is empty that tells me your belt could be shot and just slips when there is a load in it. Check and see if the belt wiggles or appears loose when you squeeze it by hand with the plug pulled of course. If the belt is tight it could be a pulley is spinning on the shaft.

My ge wpsf4170 top load washer agitator spins but the drum itself stays stationary.

If the drum spins but the agitator doesn't agitate then its the dog(lil arm things) that grab the agitator ridges to work. If the drum doesn't spin at all its the belt under the drum. it's either broke the belt or has worn and slipped off or the drum was way off balance and kicked it off(belt) . way cheaper to fix either than buy new and most new ones have no agitator anymore so how does it clean better? In my opinion, they don't so I get the parts online at repair clinic and do it my self. Sorry Maytag Repair man. But I saved a lot

The washing machine belt will move to agitate, but will not move to spin. The spin action burns up the belt. This is an Amana LWA50AW

open rear cover , see if belt slips. then remove belt and rotate empty drum if its jam than drum bearings need to change. if drum is free then belt might be loose and needs replacement.

Pump works. Spins when empty/no load in tub. clutch slips when loaded

If the drive belt is slipping during the agitate and both spin cycles for loaded conditions, I suspect that the drive belt is excessively worn. If it slipped only during a loaded spin cycle, I would have suspected that the sliding motor mount is gummed up and not moving to a belt tighten position during the start of a spin cycle. Since the unit drains with no problem for loaded and unloaded conditions, the pump belt should be OK. Replace the drive belt and clean the dust, gunk, detergent, etc, out of the sliding mount to make sure that it tightens properly when a loaded spin cycle starts. Note that on most models, the drive belt is designed to slip when spin cycles first engage, and they will continue to slip until after the drum has accelerated.

The rubber belt is worn and slipping under load. (like a fan belt)
There could also be something caught in the belt or pulleys; clear it out and it should work.
If worn, replace belt soon...

Hope this helps!

Top load washer Admiral # AAV7000AWW

I would replace the belt part # 21352320 which cost about 20 bucks. Tilt the machine back when off and empty and look for a glazed belt with maybe some cracking and wear.
