Hi Bobby boy,

I run the Playstation Clinic and can give it a try at repair. Remove the battery from the PSP as soon as possible and keep it out until you get it repaired. My basic fee is $25 plus shipping. I will inspect and clean up the insides, and UMD laser for you. Conatct me at [email protected]. i will give you details of the service. I do recommend if your not Technicaly experienced with the details of the PSP, it is not good to mess with the internals.

    Ok Bobbyboy,

I did not know you were in the UK.  Go check out www.llamma.com and see tutorial on PSP disassembly. This may help you disassemble your psp  to get all the soda pop out.  If you leave the battery in the PSP, the soda pop will do someting like an Electroplating process as seen in a chrome plating factory. It will move copper from one circuit trace to another and short out the whole thing if the battery is left in till its cleaned.  Good luck.

White macbook 10.5.8 pop spilled on keyboard

Ooouch ! After you've dabbed up (the spill) as much as you can, you may find some keys sticking ... i.e. when you touch (push) it (down), it doesn't pop up immediately. These are the keys you'll want to clean individually.
You can pop off the key top off (with your fingernails) from the top corner of the key. Once the key-cap top (cover) is pried open, lift the key-cap upwards and detach it from the bottom edge. You'll hear pop's when you do this. Once the key-cap is off, you'll see the mechanism under it. You'll want to clean things as best as you can ... very carefully. If the underside of the key top (cap) is sticky/dirty, rinse/wash it (with water), dry it well (before reinstalling it). Often the "stickiness" is caused by the (white translucent) plastic pieces (at the very top) not dropping flat down (immediately) after you lift it. (You wouldn't want to disassemble the parts below the (white translucent) square plastic pieces. Just clean/wipe it carefully using a cotton swab/toothpick).
You can remove the top (square plastic) pieces by pushing the tabs at the bottom corners ... downwards ... using a toothpick. This "top" square piece is actually two (square) pieces (snapped together), one inside the other. The inside piece is supposed to spin easily/quickly .... if not. it's probably sticky/dirty, rinse/wash it (with water), dry it well (before reinstalling it).
The trick is to make sure you know/remember how to reassemble the 2 pieces (after taking it apart and washing/rinsing/drying it) applying the right connection points to fit ... before you put the key-cap back on . The key-cap is put in place by just putting it in place and pressing down to snap it back on.
The larger keys (Shift, Space, etc.) has metal bars holding down the cap, etc., so it may take more effort to pop the key top (cap) off.
If you have quite a few to do, and you don't want to risk breaking anything, the Apple store is probably your next stop.

Spilled Soda-HP Pavillion dv6500 laptop and the sound dosent work

Hi,
Yes most likely this is a main board problem. The one thing you should have done was keep it upside down take out the battery and leave it that way for days. I have almost the exact same laptop and had a beer spilled all over the keyboard. Flipped over removed battery and then had fan blow on it for 3 days. Had no problems besides a little bit of sticky keys. There are usb audio solutions. Try usb speakers for one. but as for actually solving the problem. It would need a whole new main board. Which does get pretty expensive for the part itself. If you have any other questions or need further assistance please let me know. Also please take a moment to accept and rate my solution accordingly.
Thanks,
Lee

Hm...from the sounds of it you may be looking at a motherboard problem. I would check the audio drivers first, just to make sure it wasn't a coincidence that audio stopped working.

To check the drivers go to the device manager:

XP: go to the start menu, right click on "My Computer", select "Properties". Click on the "Hardware" tab of the new window. Click the "Device Manager" button.

Vista: go to the start menu, right click on "Computer", select "Propterties". In the new window select "Device Manager" from the list on the left.

In the device manager if you have any items that have any question marks in a yellow circle then you have a bad driver.

If the drivers aren't the problem then your best bet would be to look on Ebay or something and try to find a non-working machine of the same model to swap the motherboard from.

If it's just the tops of the keys that are sticky you can wipe those off, if it's the underside of the keys and they stick when you press down then they are cleanable, just much more difficult.

Spilled Grape Juice

To give it a good cleaning, you will need to remove the keyboard and clean anywhere you can see juice or feel stickiness. You can buy the expensive computer cleaners, but I suggest 50/50 rubbing alcohol and Q-tips. Remove the battery and C-mos battery to make sure there is absolutely no power to the machine what so ever. After cleaning inside, you will want to give it a good 24 hours to dry, ensure that there is no moisture before applying power. If the juice reached the bottom of the machine, you may need to remove the screen, split the cases, and take the motherboard out, in order to clean the bottom side of the board. If you leave juice anywhere on the board it will gum up, and the acids in the juice will corrode and detierate the circuitry on the board causing a motherboard failure. Now the keyboard, in order to thoroughly clean the keyboard, I suggest that you spray a good amount of the rubbing alcohol in the keyboard, shake it or blow it out with air, then take paper towels and daub up the rest. Repeat this two or three times, then let it dry approx 24 hours. Sometimes the keyboard won't recover after a spill and will need replaced. If it works properly, then, after using the keyboard for a while, you will notice if any of the keys are sticking. Take the sticky key or keys off and clean them individually. I know it's alot of work, but it'll teach you not to keep open drinks around your laptop. It did me, I've ruined one machine, two keyboards, and thoroughly cleaned a third very expensive machine of mine to keep it working, but I finally learned to drink from a sippy around my laptops.

I POD NANO 2GB

Let it dry for at least a week. Do not touch any buttons. If it is at all sticky (say you spilled soda or something on it) submerge it first in rubbing alcohol. Set it plug end down and just pretend it doesn't exist. Don't try anything with it. It MAY work a week from now if nothing was damaged. Playing with it now, while there's still water, may cause it to short out though.
