Dell 8400 , does not show having the CD or DVD players.

Computer is 4 years old and both drives worked the last time I used them, about a month ago. Last week the burner showed no recorder, and neither drive now will read a CD when placed computer.

Either get a new Drive because it is spoilt or format the Com. Try the first option first.

It will cost about $30 to buy a brand-new CD/DVD reader/writer.
Any computer-store technician can easily "manually" open your current drive, and remove the CD/DVD media.

Error with a TSST CD/DVDW TS-L532U.

Try uninstalling the device using device manager. Shutdown computer and restart. If the problem persists then you have a faulty DVD/CD drive.
Go to My Computer and right click, select the Device Manager, search for the drive on the right side. Right click and choose Uninstall. then restart. Hope this helps.

Dell Laptop inspiron B130 Cd/DVD player will not work

DVD43 is freeware and does not get updated very often. Although, there has been at least one update recently according to the threads I could find. I would try updating to the most current driver for DVD43 and see if that fixes the problem. If not try to remove the program again once the drivers have been updated. Some times a program will not remove through regular means when something in the program is corrupt. Hope this helps...

Dell Dimension power problem

There are several different solutions for this as posted at this Forum.

http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/51352-2-dell-dimension-8400-wont-boot

1) A lot of people have just removed the Jumper for the CMOS and turned the Power back on and back off and replaced the jumper and/or removed the battery.

2) Several people have reseated the Memory and after booting back up it worked.

3) A few had to replace the Mother Board and CPU but in this instance they had to also replace the Case because the Dell case wasn't really fit for the heat of from the CPU.

4) I had the exact same problem and luckily replacing the Power Supply fixed this for me. I had to cut out the back of the Dell case for the toggle on/off switch but when I tested the old Power Supply it was only getting 5amps and this was causing the Amber/Orange/Yellow light to constantly flash.

I hope this helps!

Hi

Yes it is a common problem with Dell machines. Try right clicking on the icon in My Computer and selecting 'eject' If that does not work then just buy a new one and install. It is a straightforward job. just make sure the jumper connections on the new player are set the same as the old one

CD/DVD won't eject, won't play, Device Manager doesn't recognize.

If it's only 8 months old, then you have atleast 4 months left on your warranty. The problem will either be the ide controller channel or the dvd drive and firmware has faulted, the same fault probably happens when you have put a dvd in and it wont read or eject. Return to the place of purchase, where the drive should be replaced or the notebook exchanged.
