NO SERVICE, yet 4 bars of signal

Motorola MPX220 phone shows NO SERVICE message, yet shows a 4-bar signal level initially. The Network Settings screen shows "Searching", but never finds any networks. Already reseated battery. Already tried "master reset". Already had latest stable Motorola 1.430 firmware. I know for certain it is not caused by an actual weak signal, we have two identical phones on our account and the other one works fine.

the antenna in the phone needs to be replaced so take it and have it replaced from a mobile technician or mobile service center.

SOURCE: no network service

You may want to contact your carrier and have them walk you through checking the network settings on the phone. Some carriers require some manual input in there, and it's possible these configurations got deleted or changed unintentionally.

You need to take the phone to have the main-board fix to get the service up again.

    @Surendra

    It's based on dBM and asu and not the bars you actually see. Even if you may see fewer bars you could have equal quality. The phones, based on different OS may be calibrated a little differently. It's best to contact your service provider and verify....

    1. Your SIM is properly programmed.
    2. Your PRL is updated
    3. You have a recent SIM

    Losses network randomly

    This is a somewhat rare problem with this phone and I don't believe you are going to get it fixed at a decent cost. I have seen it before.

    MPX220: Sync failed + The settings could not be opened

    This is the case that your phone previous setup has changed back to default setting since the phone is sold to you. I have my MPX220 before and sync with Windows Xp Service Pack 2 and Activesync 4.2 and everytime I came back, they automatically recognize each other both PC and my phone. I think in your case, you need to start over again by uninstall the activesync and reinstall it and then reconnect your phone back to start from step one. I think that is only way to refresh the connection of your MPX220 and your PC. I don't know why you has these problems but usually when you are done your setup at the first time, your PC recognize your phone with the current setup you have made but when your phone is completetly dead, it wipes out all related info which is necessary for both parts to handshake and only uninstall the sync software and reinstall it from fresh can solve this problem. windows 2000 is not as stable as win xp about these tasks. If you can upgrade to wins xp, you will never worry about this again specially windows xp with service pack 2. I hope this help
