Acer external hard drive ah022s usb3.0 not detected

I was watching a movie with friends then the movie stopped and the hard drive was disconnecting / reconnecting continuously then he became undetectable like there was nothing connected to any PC i've tried, but he was still connected to the computer and running cuz i can see the blue light telling it's still running. so i restarted my PC to see if it can be detected with the BIOS, it was there as [ACER HARD DRIVE], things on this disk are VITAL and i need to get access to it by any mean, i don't care about Warranty if you have a solution ill take it.

Try to connect it on another usb port, or another PC to make sure that it's not your usb or PC's fault. If nothing happens, turn it off, disconnect the cables, power source and usb, reconnect them, and turn it on.
Good luck.

SOURCE: external hard drive not registering with the computer

WOW!! I was out of options and was desperate to find a fix for my External. So i took it out of its case and looked it over like the other solution states. I decided to plug it in while it ws out of its case, and i began squeezing it among other things. Finally when i pushed on the area on the bottom where you can see the disk is located, it grinded for a second. After that my drive started to work again!!!!!!! Unreal i thought i ws gonna lose everything i had. Id recommend trying this as a last resort and it dont take alot of pressure, just press on it until you feel the disk vibrate.

Hope this helps someone else as well.

SOURCE: WD 250 GB external hard drive is not being detected by system

Hi !

First check if your WD is running (spinning), no matter if the blue light is on. Can you hear it close with your ear, or feel vibrations on your hand when it starts.

If it runs, then check/replace the USB cable you are using with another.
Check the Power supply if it gives necessary power.

If you are familliar with disassembling/assembling, then open and remove the HDD from the box and try to connect the disc directly to your PC (using another HDD Data/Power cables).

If it runs, and you can acces it, then something is wrong with the Box.

If it doesn't, then the HDD is broken or damaged.

Please note that if your device is under warranty, DO NOT open the box ! Contact your seller for service/replacement instructions.

Regards.

SOURCE: PC wont detect external hard drive

Does the drive have a socket for external power?  or do you have a USB cable with 2 usb and 1 mini usb?
Sounds like it needs external power.

How can i open the body of my Acer External Hard drives 2.5 AH022S. because i can't open it on any of computer right now.

older post but not too old
NO PC stated at all, nor what OS you run, windows, android, what?
ah022s?

is this a new HDD ext
or from other PC with data from it.
or from this unstated PC that used to work but now now?
zero key fact stated, so no anwers possible
try all USB ports yet?>
go to (windoz) deskmanager is it seen there,
go to device manager, it must be seen there 1st ,then above.

did you drop it, if yes, boom heads crash.
the rule on all external (500GB or 1TB ?) drives
with no external Power pack on it.
is that many laptops and weak notebooks
do not have 500mA power on there USB ports
so the motor is born dead.
so plug it in, with your ear to the casing of hdd.
hear it , dead.silent.
hear it spin up (here) http://www.pcdied.com/raw/spoolupjet.mp3
hear it click madly, bad.

the MP3 is jet engine spooling but a hDD sounds the same.
just very tiny sound .
if the disk does not spin up, that means HDD is dead
or power to it is weak.

laptops with 100mA (power) USB ports are USELESS for any external hdd made. (lacking its own power pack)
what I do is buy or make my own HDD drive,
with power pack , then and ONLY then will it work on ANY PC.

I own a LG Plasma 42PQ2 tv and I want to watch movies from an external hard drive through the USB port but it does not show any movie files on the hard drive.

The USB port on the TV might not have enough power to power the external hard drive. Can you try putting a movie on a USB memory stick instead, and see if that works?

Its worked great for months on my laptop on vista, today my friend borrowed it to watch a movie on her laptop, using windows 7, she watched 2 movies, unplugged it, and ever since then its not being...

you have to "stop" external drives under "safely remove hardware" or they can possibly be damaged. if the data is very important, it *may" ber possible to take the hard drive out of the case, and install it in a new hard drive case. this might work, depending upon the type of hard drive. they doi sell external hard drive kitxs in stores, but you have to know if it is a PATA or SATA hard drive. SATA is the newest, and likely any external drive from the past 2 years will be SATA.

Hi, I was watching a movie of my Pininfarina 320GB hard drive and suddenly the movie froze and the hard drive started to make weird noises. I tried resetting it and plugging it back in but it still makes...

Needle? There is no needle.

Your Hard drive just died. It sounds like the bearings just gave out or something else happened to the Platen.

When it makes noises it means something is very very wrong.

I hope you backed up your hard drive. If you didn't you just cost yourself anywhere from $100.00 to $1000.00 for professional data recovery.

Time to buy another hard drive and reinstall your operating system.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

pls rate 4 stars.

Acer aspire one hard disk cannot read

Check the BIOS configuration for the hard disk, if the BIOS does not detect the hard drive then the hard drive is faulty or the disk controller is faulty.
To test the hard drive, remove it and connect it to an USB hard drive adapter and connect it to a working computer's USB port. This computer should detect the hard drive as an external disk drive. If this computer cannot detect it and/or cannot open the folders etc. the the hard drive is faulty.
Then you need to install a new hard drive in the Acer and install Windows, the device drivers and your programs to get the laptop operational again.

Detects as usb but not the drive, 4 clicks tries to spin

"I don't know what's happend to the HDD behind my back but I think it might have been bumped off a table and just neatly put back" well.... i don't think so. i think that you use external HD's as if it where internal. by wich i mean keep em on long, like a normal HD. problem with external is because this technology isn't here long they get overheated very fast, even with a fan. without a fan they can get up to 90 degrees celcius FAST, and damage but also impose a safety risk. IF you MUST have an external HD (serious, get an internal extra) the: get a good brand, with a fan, and only use it temporarely, about up to 30 min and 60 min max as an exeption if you must use it. so instead of watching a 3hr movie form it, copy it to intern HD, watch, then delete it from iternal. if you dont; like to use it that way... it's the only way OR get an internal one. they are only good for back up's, not for any kinda "active/intens" use. so...sry but for now they are just **** and i STRONGLY advise you not to buy one from a "good brand" but to buy none at all. buy an internal extra HD, set as slave, done. i really don't undrstand all these ppl buying external HD's but i guess they sound convenient, but that aside. being burned alive at night cause your ext HD caught fire isn't worth it, plus they WILL live short -1yr- unless used solely as back up medium.
