I have a D-Link DI-624i Vc wireless router that has been in service for 2-3 years, and now acting up. My desktop hard-wires into its LAN port also not working, and from the wireless network list, the network name disappear too. I tried turning it off and on waiting 30 seconds, and just did a reset on the back, and realize I don't have the manual to go through the process. Please help.

If you have a wireless router and it is connected to the DSLor cable modem then -
To connect to your wireless router, the router needsits wireless settings to be configured with the SSID, encryption key etc., alsothe wireless cards in all the laptops/computers needs to be configured withthese router's wireless settings. Then the laptops/desktop computers cancommunicate with your wireless router and access the Internet via the DSL or cable modem.
connect to your wireless router, it needs the router's wireless settings
configured and also the wireless cards in all the laptops and or
computers needs to be configured with the router's wireless settings. Then the
laptops and desktop computers can communicate with your wireless
For this, you have two types of connection
1. LAN_LAN (ethernet to ethernet) -->wireless router is acting as a switch
2. LAN_WAN (ethernet to internet)-->wireless router is acting as a wireless router
in this case, you need the LAN_LAN connection
plug an ethernet cable from the ethernet port on the wired router and connect the other end of that cabl to the ethernet port on the wireless router
log-on to the setup page of the wireless router, do this while the wired router is turned off.
-open your internet browser, type 192.168.0.1 on the address bar. Then type the username & password for the router ( default admin as the username, password : ).
Under the setup tab, click manual configuration. Then click network settings, change the router ip address to 192.168.0.5 & disable the DHCP server. save the settings. Just personalize the wireless network.
1.- You must verify that the desktop computer works without problem in wireless way with the D-Link device.-
2.- The I Pod touch device is an external unit to the desktop computer, so you have be shure of the first condition.-
3.- If the destop computer don`t work in wireless conditions, the fail is in the configuration of the LanWireless, you must check both, D-Link device and computer configurations.-
4.- If the computer works ok, the problem is only in the I Pod touch only.- You muts to check fisical connections and I Pod hardware.-
Just for fun, make the router give out IP addresses starting at 192.168.0.101 forward. Configure the AP at 192.168.0.2 with no DHCP (the host will give out the addresses), a netmask of 255.255.255.0, and a gateway of 192.168.0.1. Now, let the laptop find DHCP, or give it a 192.168.0.x address where x is greater than 2 but less than 101.
you need to configure the wireless encryption key on your desktop computer.logon to your router and configure wireless setting and configure your desktop with the same SSID / wep key and it shud connect.post back any errors
