I am using an Olympus Vn-960 PC dictaphone. The device will turn on when it is connected to the PC but when it is not connected to the computer it appears to be dead and will not turn on. I replaced the batteries and that did not help.

I figured it out.
My VN-960 wouldn't recognize because windows didn't have a driver for it.
With the Install CD still in the drive, Go to the control panel, New Hardware, then wait for it to finish searching. Click on My Hardware is connected, then choos the Digital Wave Recorder, and then find driver. It should install the driver and Work now!
