Question about Ricoh Aficio MP1600SPF Copier
This machine has two blades for the drum, so when the second blade is not set right the background appears. So with change of the charge roller or the transfer belt and the transfer belt blade you will not fix the problem. Only way to fix the problem is to replace the second drum blade and to be careful when you are setting it. to be more precise you need to release the two spring on the back of the drum case and then insert the drum into the drum case after that attach the two springs that you had remove before.

Clr modes, 1, 0, 7 clr stop 3 sec. enter system(copy) sp go to 2805 and execute. then go to 2801 and execute. then go to 3001-1 and execute. also verify that the developer you put in your machine is ricoh part number b296-9640 im not sure what the other part number would be if there are any. any incorrect developer would cause backgrounding. the drum blade would cause streaking or lines, the transfer belt causes lines and smudges on the back sides of your copies.

The specific procedure was not followed during installation therefore you're screwed. Make sure all sp procedures are followed, missing one will cause the copies to be gritty
