I have a Sony DSC-H5 and the shutter button does not allow me to push it half way -- only all-the-way -- the macro won't focus.

Had the same problem... used pair of forceps to turn the shutter release button counter-clockwise. The button may seem to come up a bit and will stop. Tried it again and worked like new!!! Easy peasy!

Don't throw your Sony Cyber-Shot camera away!

We found a website who has created an entire comprehensive photo instructions for the Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-H Series Shutter Button Installation.

They also have the Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-H9 Shutter Button Installation Instructions as well!

Please note that we STRONGLY recommend using a flash discharger. This is for your safety and also for your camera's safety.

Hope this helps to get your camera working and start capturing memories again!

yea go ahead and spend $70.00 on a new part that will just fail again due to the fact that the part has a design flaw. OR you can go to this site, and spend a little time with your camera and fix the broken part.:http://focussonydsch.blogspot.com/

I have a Sony H5 camera. I just notice that if I go to take a picture I press the button, the green light flashers and then it snaps it with pressing all the way down

Greetings - That's how the camera was designed to work. Pressing the shutter half way down makes the camera auto focus. When it's in focus it turns solid green and you then press the shutter all the way down.

I suggest you read the getting started guide that comes with your camera or on line HERE.

Enjoy your camera and thanks for using Fix Ya

I have a Sony Cyber shot DSC-H2. When the shutter button is depressed halfway, it does not focus as it should do. Is there a simple solution to this?

The Sony DSC-H2 and DSC-H5 have a terrible shutter button design and the tiny little "bubble" that is responsible for the "half press focus" can be easily damaged.

If you do a Google search for "Sony shutter button repair" you will see the #1, 2 and 3 links are all for www darntoothysam com. We have done hundreds of this repair over the years!

The repair service is just $70 total IF we can repair it without replacing the part, installation and return shipping of the camera. Please visit our site, we would be happy to service your camera.

Hope this helps!

When I push the shutter button down, it takes 3 to 4 seconds before the shutter opens to snap the picture. What's with that ?

You need to press the shutter button half-way and allow the camera to lock in the focus before pressing the rest of the way.

Sony DSC H-5 Camera slow response time

There is a diaphram between the shutter button and the shutter that does the focus. Pushing the button half way down pre-focuses and then the picture is instantanious. If the diaphram is broken it take a while before the shutter takes the picture. One of the AA batteries may be defective so try another set and see if that is better. There is also a slight possibility that the secondary battery (hidden within the camera) has gone bad.

Auto focus

Are you sure you did not activate "Manual Focus"?
Near the shutter button, there's a "Focus" button. maybe you pressed it accidentally and now you're in "Manual Focus" mode.

If so, press it once more to get "Multipoint" mode back to life...

And read the camera manual. It's a goot place to look for this kind of answers.
