My ilo 42" plasma is only black and white after power surge. i have a surge protector but i guess didn't help. is my tv ruined?

Faulty or worn internal surge protector. External surge protection recommend.

this may sound dumb but did you have it plugged into a surge protector? if you didn't it may have decided to to toast some stuff inside, if its under warranty i suggest you bring it in, odds are they'll throw a brand new tv at you, if its not you may have to do a little tinkering and crack the tv open to take a look. UNPLUG your tv before you tinker.

If your TV was not connected to a surge protector, it may be damaged. If you still have your warranty, check if it covers power surges.

If ever an energy pike occurs, it would most likely damage the TV for sure. A grounded outlet helps divert power surges to the ground. Sometimes grounded outlets can only handle so much overload, but never 100% guarantee.

If the fuse burned out the the tv would not turn on at all. When the tv is on is the back light still on? If its not its probably the back light that needs changing. If its on then its one of the circuit boards.

My ilo Does This Every time We Have A Power Outage Did You Reset It????? Unplug The Tv And Hold Down The On Off Power Button For 30 Seconds Then Release And Plug It Back In And Check.

my 42" ilo plasma started going black on the outside to middle, now its totally black and no sound the power indicated lites for a min then the tv shuts off

Well, it could have been struck by somthing, have you tried unplugging it from your wall and re plugging it in? If so - it may be just flat out dead

This must be a Samsung controller inside. Samsung controller have trouble finding if signal is ntsc or pal when tv is turn on before the source. If this is the case, just turn off the tv, start the cablebox and power on the tv again.
