Kenmore elite chest freezer control not working or illuminating. Good battery. Freezer is working.will replacing control panel fixit? What else may be bad?

It may be a sensor. Don't replace a control center unless you have determined it's bad. The sensor has to be wired to the board controller. Usually smaller cable with 2 conductors. If it has an alarm then there may g e as many as 6 or 8 or more wires going to the board. Using your wire diagram Find the sensor for temp. Sometimes the ohm value is given on the wire diagrams. You will also need the temperature at the point the sensor is connected inside. Your ohm reading should be close to the temp given in a table or from the manufacturer. If it's close sensor ok. Take next step.

Hello Gentlemen;

My name is Peter; I am a retired field service refrigeration technician.

The two of you are on the right track.

The board that you replaced;

19294535-2wop33oc00rzrbarpm5t54vf-3-0.jpg
Substitution: 5303918498
The electronic control board controls the major electro-mechanical components in the refrigerator. When the electronic control board senses the compressor needs to run to cool the refrigerator, it sends voltage to the compressor and fans. It then receives input from temperature sensors to monitor the temperatures inside the refrigerator and freezer sections.

This is a substitution and can not communicate with your existing electrical control board. You need tor replace this board was well:

Substitution: 241973711 Cost: $83.00

The electronic control board 241973711 controls the major electro-mechanical components in the refrigerator. When the electronic control board senses the compressor needs to run to cool the refrigerator, it sends voltage to the compressor and fans.

When you plugged in your old board and got power, that is because the two boards were communicating.

When you change the board be careful to ground yourself by touching something that is bare metal. Static electricity will knock out a board.

The Electrolux Frigidaire Refrigerator is a good unit. It should last you 20-30 years. If you want a unit that is in constant repair, buy either a Samsung or LG. They have the highest failure and repair cost of all of the manufacturers.

Sounds like you need to replace the cold control. You can order the part online and then do a Google search for a video on how to replace it. You'll have remove some sheet metal inside the freezer, re-string the capillary and mount the control, then replace the 2 wires on it. Not a big deal if you're handy.

Glrs237zdw temp goes from 29 to 60

I am not sure if you said you checked the=> 5303918476 Defrost Control Board or here=> 5303918476 If you replaced the defrost thermostat inside the freezer that is most likely not the problem. These defrost control boards will really cause strange things to happen. Sometimes by unplugging and taking out the control board you will see burn marks or signs of heat damage on the printed circuit, not always. Unplug and open the control panel inside the fresh food compartment=> GLRS237ZW2 Control Panel

You will see part/location number 23 is your 5303918476 Defrost Control Board If I misunderstand please let me know so I can help you resolve this problem. Thanks Sea Breeze

Hello,

On this style unit if the control will not respond then it will need to be replaced. Ussally a hard restart by unplugging the unit will clear this glitch, if you already did this then the control will need to be replaced in order to fix this issue.
