Optical engine replacement for Epson 6500 projector

Called Epson with magenta bar on the top of our image, and cyan bar on the bottom. They told me it was the optical engine. Cost is $1200 to repair. Is there a way to get this part and replace it my for less?

SOURCE: need to replace the bulb in an epson e71 projector

Hi, this is pretty straight forward. Make sure the projector is off and cooled. On the bottom is the Lamp cover, press the two tabs and lift the cover off. Loosen the two retaining screws and pull the lamp assy upwards to remove. Fit the new lamp and tighten the screws then rfit the lamp cover. You will need to reset the Lamp hours using the "About" menu after turning back on (Not the "reset all" menu).

epson will not sell parts to anyone who is not an authorized service center. sorry. if you can get the part from an asc, then you can replace it.

This is called the keystone setting, using your remote, it's somewhere in the menu functions. Since you didn't post a model number & I'm not psychic, :) I can't find your manual to give you more specific instructions! Here's a youtube video for an Epson

Printer is not printing yellow, Light Cyan, Cyan, blue lines through Light Magenta & Magenta, What could be causing this and it is also leaking black ink out of the bottom of printer.

Is it under warranty, are you re-filling the cartridges? If yes to first and no to the other two, send it back under warranty. If you use copy cartridges or refill old ones the warranty is vod. This means you need to replace the printer. To be honest, you'd be better off buying an Epson all in one. Even the wireless model start @ sound 40gbp and you can buy good copy cartridges from choicestationery.com

My HP 6500 only prints yellow and black. I refilled all three color cartridges and only the yellow is working. Any ideas?

This printer having four cartridges and two print heads.Each print head having two pens, black, yellow & magenta,cyan. As you said yellow & black are OK.. So replace Magenta & Cyan print head..

The projected image is magenta color in the white areas. It does not show magenta on the menu bar projected. Is this a lamp problem or something else?

The cable from the computer to the projector is faulty. A short in the cable causes the image to be magenta.

If you've already changed out the toner cartridge and the problem persists, then it could be several other parts that are either defective, dirty or blocked.

You may want to contact a certified Xerox technician and have them look at the Imaging Unit Agitator Bar and the Low Toner Sensors for Cyan/Magenta. There could also be a faulty toner supply motor.

LCD projector spots showing up on the screen

there are light filters behind each lcd panel that determine the color of light going through it. because of excessive heat and dust, the filter tends to burn and cause discoloration in the image. if the image is bluish (cyan), the red filter is burning. if it's yellow, the blue is burning. if it's purplish (magenta), the green is burning. the filters will need to be replaced. unfortunately, many companies don't sell individual parts of the optical engine, so the entire engine might need to be replaced.

My HP 6500 on install will recognize Cyan ink

Solution:

1. Try to determine whether the catridge is at fault. How so? Switch the Magenta with the Cyan catridge. Press OK.

2. If system indicates that the Magenta is not installed, you will know that the Cyan that you put there is at fault.

3. Touch the 9 mm. hole where you can see the sponge. Does the Cyan color transfer to your finger? If not, the catridge is empty or dried up. Replace or refill.

4. If the ink is normal, then use some toilet tissue to wipe the gold contact points clean. If this fails to solve your problem, take it to your dealer and ask for a replacement (if it fails to work in their machine).

5. If this fails, then the problem is within your HP 6500. You need a technician.

All I get is a white screen. I replaced bulb, and nothing is different.

open the projector (6 inset screws on bottom) - carefully rermove the top (there are 2 wire sets attached: one for the speaker and one for the control panel) -- make sure all wire sets are properly seated -- i had one loose set -- reseated it, closed the projector and the thing wotks fine now. every repair facility i called didn't want to deal with the projector, and one person told me i ought to buy a new one
