Wireless Im trying to set up my xbox360 with the xbox wireless and i need the wep key for my actiontec gt704wg

The WEP encryption key is setup by the user, it is not a fixed key.
Theencryption key secures your data from unauthorized access. The router's password is a Passphrase or the WEP or WPA orWPA2 encryption key. The Passphrase generates the WEP or WPA or WPA2 encryptionkey and this is in the router's wireless settings. To connect to your wireless router, configure the router'swireless settings ie SSID, plus the WPAor WPA2 encryption key and then configure wireless cards in the laptops and orcomputers with these router's wireless settings. Then the laptops and desktopcomputers can communicate with your wireless router.

You should not have to install any drivers for this equipment to work. If it is wired, plug an ethernet cable from the back of your computer to the router. If it is wireless, you will have to enter the wireless key. If the GT704 is set to default settings I believe there isn't any encryption on the unit (meaning that you can connect without a key). If you still can't connect wirelessly, you'll have to plug in a cable and open your internet browser. Type 192.168.0.1 in the address bar and within the wireless settings you should see the WEP/WPA key.

In order to get the wifi WEP key for your network, turn over the bottom of the modem- the default WEP key is on a sticker-
Bar that, on your pc open up a web browser, type in 192.168.1.1 in the address bar- by default the user name and password are admin and password- go to the wireless tab, and basic security settings- the WEP key would be listed there

The security key is the WEP or WPA or WPA2 encryption key that is configured in the router's wireless settings. You need to connect a LAN cable from your computer to your Actiontec, open a browser and enter the router's configuration URL then login to the router then go to the wireless settings for this info or to change the wireless settings.

Actiontec Gateways and Routers are compatible with the Xbox. However, it may be necessary to forward the ports used by the Xbox, in the Actiontec Gateway or Router. Without Port Forwarding, the Xbox Connection Test may report a "NAT" rating of "STRICT" or "MODERATE", rather than "OPEN".

All you need to correct is entering in the WEP key for the wireless network- you will connect, but will be unable to browse wirelessly otherwise. The WEP key is found on the bottom of the actiontec- unless you changed it to something else- at which point you would need to log into the modem to find out your WEP key.(192.168.1.1 on a working computer in internet explorer/safari/firefox, un/pw admin, password or admin, admin; wireless settings)

open a browser - clear the address bar - type in
192-168.1.1 - then in the password - forget the username unless u set it - in the password type in 'admin' - just admin that's it -
the go to security - - hunt around and you will see your wep numbers - there will be 4 of them most likely - pick one -

Use the WEP encryption in the wireless settings, any computer that wants to connect to your network will have to know that WEP key, without entering it they will see secured network and not be able to access it.
