My Whirlpool washer SM8525079 will not finish a cycle at all. Seems like the timing is ******* up? Do you have a direction to point me to.
many Thanks,
James
SM8525079 was the number on the washer
On the inside lid, I was not able to find any numbers on the back panel. Maybe I am looking in the right place?
Found it....3955816
This is your model LSQ9600LW0 The part you need is 3954071 that is a timer. The model number is located below the bottom of the lid when it is in the open position. You have to bend down and look below the lid

you have a faulty lid switch you will need to remove the cabnet and replace. To open you will need to remove the star screws off the rear consel corners and pull control panel up and over.If there is no screws you will need to use a puddy knife and push the front corners between the top and consel there are 2 clips ther as you push the knife lift at the same time on the consel. Then there are 2 brass clips stick a flat screw driver in and pry up they should pop off..Then remove the wire harness from lid switch. The lid switch will be under the cabnet or on the toprear left corner.to take the top lide switch remove the 5/16 screw and lift the lid then switch will come off.install new on if older the switch hase 2 srews around the inside lid area where the stricker pushes down then remove screw under the cabnet as well.hope i helpes is give me a fixya thank you so much :)
SOURCE: My Whirlpool washer won't spin
Hi, It sounds like the coupler has broken. If the motor runs but doesn't do either of these things, here is how to
Removing the cabinet. UNPLUG the washer. There are two screws holding the control panel to the cabinet. Most models the screw are in front but, some models have the screws in back. They are on each end. Now raise the control panel up and let it rest on the hinges. Unplug the lid switch harness and locate the clips on each side (bronze in color) and release them.
Now the cabinet will lift off the frame and you can set it aside.
How to replace a coupler:
Now that the cabinet is out of the way, remove the pump from the motor and set the pump off to the side. Remove the two screws holding the clips on the motor and remove the clips. Unplug the motor harness and on some models you wil need to unplug the capacitor.
Now you will need to replace all three parts to the coupler. I use a ½” socket and a small hammer to force the coupler onto the motor and transmission shafts. Put the rubber part onto the coupler half on the transmission and then line up the post on the motor shaft with the holes on the rubber part and it should go on ok. Put the clips that hold the motor in place and plug in the harnesses.
Put the pump back on and the clips to hold it in place. Set the cabinet back on the frame. Make sure the lip on the front cabinet is under the front rail of the frame. Ease the cabinet on the frame making sure the two rear sides of the cabinet set down on the tabs of the frame.
Put the two clips back on that hold the cabinet and plug the lid switch back in. Fasten the control panel down and you are all set.
Please let me know if this helps you or if I can assist you further.

SOURCE: whirlpool model SM 8525079 fills with water but
If you have motor sounds after water fill, but no agitation or spin it could be a broken direct drive coupling. If it will not pump out water, there could be something stuck in the drain pump.
this is not a modle #,try raising the lid if a top loader and look low center under lid. if top load you may have a broken drive coupling.pretty easy fix once you get cabinet off.2 phillips up front on older on back on some, all at the very out side edge of control panel, some newer have end caps to remove for front screws.newer have spring clips.use putty knife between washer top and panel out side edge.two spring clips remove pump, two screws and clips remove motor, coupling is next.
Take a look at this tip I wrote on the no agitate or spin condition of your washer.
