Same problem. Have any of you found a solution yet? Until now, I thought I was the only one with this problem, same all- in- one printer- scanner( Hp 1410.). If it is your first time using your printer, then you need to install the driver for it to work.
If you have used your printer without any problem before then, there are two possible reasons why your printer/scanner is having that issue:
1. Connection error 2. Driver problem
First thing's first. Restart your computer and your printer. there are times that computers and printers just need a restart for it to work. Yes, it's strange but it's how things work with machines. They need rebooting to work smoothly.
If rebooting your computer and printer won't fix the problem. Here are the things that you can do.
1. Connection error: . a. Turn off your printer and turn it back on. Try scanning, if no go.. proceed to step b.
b. Unplug your printer from your computer and unplug it's power cord and press and hold the printer's power button to 5-8 seconds to completely drain the power. Plug it back in to the wall outlet leaving the connection between your computer and the printer still unplugged. wait until your printer completely turns on. Plug it to your computer and do the scanning process.
If all steps above don't work, then you need to check the driver.
Uinstall the driver of your computer by going to the control panel. After uinstalling it, then reinstall it by using the dvd that came with your printer. Follow the on-screen instructions and try scanning. It should work.
Hi there! Since it's telling you that the USB is not connected, I assume that you made sure the cable was really plugged into your computer. From there, i suggest you wiggle a little your cable at different place to see if the computer finally recognize it (That would mean the cable is damage and no good anymore). You could also try to plug the cable in another USB port (If it works, that mean the USB port is defective). And the last thing, try updating your scanner driver maybe it will fix the problem!
The first thing I recommend you try is a new data cable. Scanners require bi-directional communication and will fail even when the printer works. Similarly go for a direct connection instead of using a print server or USB hub. (I have a scanner that had the same problem - the preview scan started but no image saved due to a bad cable.) If you are using a parallel port connection, make sure that bi-directional communication is set for the port (in the BIOS). If you use a USB to parallel port adapter, make sure it is a bi-directional (for scanner) adapter.
Make sure the cable is plugged all the way in to the printer it gets loose for some reason and have had this problem my self many times. I replaced the US plug and mine went away but test the cable first.you can go to WWW.hp.com and support and read the Trouble bullitins for this printer and you will find a white paper or TSB on this.
First you have to load the scanner (twain driver). Then load the scanning software. Then plug the printer/scanner into the usb port on the pc. The pc should then recognize the scanner. You might have to turn your pc off then on again to recognize the scanner. Then try to open the scanning software on your pc and put the document on the scanning glass and press the aquire/scan button on the software. Hopefully, that should work.
this could be down to the scanner connection not being set properly go to the scanner settings check that the port or connection is set to usb if connected directly to computer or if you are using parrallel port set to this the reason you are getting a hang is the document is being saved and then trying to connect to computer or printer and it cant communicate so the docs go no where by turning off you reset it again... good luck A
Are you scanning to your computer? If you are getting an error during the transfer to your computer, check your firewall. I had a scanner (mine is a Panasonic) problem with the transfer to my computer. I corrected it by printing the properties of the scanner and found out the port number that the scanner used and opened the port in the firewall. Hope it helps.
Please follow my steps:
1. Make a ring, which is 5mm high and 1/3 cut so that it can be mounted at the far right end of the rail bar where the scanner module sliding back and forth. This can help get the none-stopping scanner out of the trap!
2. Do the Semi-Reset opreation. Then you can see the healing result!
