I've actually used this one specific product.
If you're using it on Windows, make sure you installed the driver from the CD. If you can plug the computer to a wired connection, download the drivers from this site. Some people have reported problem with it using Windows Vista. There is a beta driver for it on the download page, but I hear it doesn't always work. If you do have Windows Vista, you'll probably need to buy another product.

If you're using Linux, particularly Ubuntu Linux, it will work fine on versions 6.06, 6.10, and 7.10. It has problem on 7.04. I haven't tried it on other distributions.

There are also some issues connecting to a secured wireless router.

Buy a better one - netgear or something less cheap and nasty

My g wireless Belkin USB Network adapter doesn't seem to be funcionig. I cannot access Internet Explorer. I have HP PC with Windows XP. I',m using Sprint WiFi.

Is your router connected to your Broadband modem (cable or DSL) into its broadband port? The router must be first connected wired to set it up for wireless access. Use your browser to access http://192.168.1.1 and log in with login info from the manual. Once you get in, set the Network Name (SSID) then the wireless security. I prefer WPA-PSK[TKIP] for its simplicity. You will need the passcode you set here to log in with your wireless computers.

Im not aware of any gadgets, but you can always use the USB stick on one laptop, share the internet connection, and connect the other laptop throught the shared connection.

That would require your laptops to be networked, either by a crossed cat cable or with regular switching or routing.

I have my wireless adapter connected and it shows my required network in the list, but I am not able to connect to it

I had trouble with linksys router and modem, it saw connection but would not connect. I found that my network adapter (drivers) were not installed. Make sure you check that the drivers are installed. If it looks like it, then uninstall then re-install again.

Hope it helps.

I cannot connect to the internet with my belkin wireless adapater and i don't know why, please help.

you need more than a wireless adapter to connect to the internet......
you need a wireless network to connect to. in cafe's and pubs the owner sometimes sets up a WiFi network that their patrons can connect to, however most people have to provide their own.

to get to the internet , you will need.

A broadband connection (ADSL / Cable) this normally comes with a standard NON wifi modem
A WiFi Router (including ADSL / Cable Modem) depending on what you have already.

then to link a remote PC / Laptop to this network, A suitable wireless adapter ( like your belkin adapter)

it is a common misconception that a wireless adapter is all you need (advertising is vague)

Belkin N1 Wireless USB Adapter

Hi Emma,
Try these first:

change channels to 1-6-or 11. Make sure you change all of your wireless computers.

check is to make sure you are NOT using "IEEE 802.1x authentication for this network."

You can find at setting under "Wireless Network Connection Properties" and then under "Authentication" tab of your network properties.

This particular authentication method is periodically logging you off the network and re-authenticating.

Check the adapter in device manager to make sure that windows is not shutting the adapter down to save power.

Cordless phones1.gif and wireless ethernet cards use overlapping frequencies. As a test, you can unplug the AC cords from all the cordless phones in the area and see if it helps.
Please let me know how you make out.
thanks

How to set up network on belkin G+ wireless usb adapter

do you have a Wireless Router + Broadband modem?

This is like a base station to which your remote wireless node communicates (to get connected to your home network and internet.

something like this http://catalog.belkin.com/IWCatProductPage.process?Product_Id=187337 for an ADSL connection.

If you are on cable, you can either get a Router similar to the one above (but for cable) http://www.linksys.com/servlet/Satellite?c=L_Product_C2&childpagename=US%2FLayout&cid=1138056788757&pagename=Linksys%2FCommon%2FVisitorWrapper&lid=8875739789B01

or if your Cable modem has LAN ports you may just be able to use an "Access Point" to add Wireless capabilities. http://www.linksys.com/servlet/Satellite?c=L_Product_C2&childpagename=US%2FLayout&cid=1126536803676&pagename=Linksys%2FCommon%2FVisitorWrapper&lid=0367639789B22
